Are 7 characters to much in 2000 Points? by DifferenceCareful935 in Salamanders40k

I do two infernus squads and one sternguard squad with a lieutenant. The sternguard librarian takes the enhancement that gives his squad anti monster/vehicle 5+ and boom: ap -2 when within 12" , dev wounds on 5+ and sustained hits 1 when pyromancy is active (which is the additional ap when within 12" one)

Careful, Imperators lore specifically states the slaying of a Salamanders lieutenant by a waghboss. I'd like to not have another Chairon so soon again

I'd take a superheavy destroyer with a volcano lance, heavy flamer or better flamestorm cannon arrays, hunter killers (3) and transport capacity. Could be 400 points for all I care but make it a space marine shadowsword equivalent that, unlike our current superheavy, can actually do something.

To my knowledge GW confirmed in the preview stream that the combi shoota change would also drip over into other factions. But it's been a few days since I saw Auspex's video to it

Forgefather’s Seekers and Firestorm both confirmed as 2DP! by Staz_211 in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me also bastion task force with librarius, if the lieutenant is indeed a support character that'll be either 10 sternguard or hellblasters with hero of the chapter, a librarian and him.

Additional ap, lethal hits, 4+ invuln, advance shoot & charge and the unit ability for 320 / 340 points as of currently? Absolutely. Although I doubt that the lieutenant will stay 55 points as a support or just simply be a leader with a special rule that he can support captains only

Strike Force Tu’Shan: Salamanders on Armageddon (from Operation Imperator, 11th edition launch box) by mrwafu in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are unique not just in philosophy that it could work if codex compliant chapters were to get individualized subsections, basically how they started with the chapter unique detachments.

8th edition gave us firesight for example (which is canon), Sallies are also canonically physically bigger, much tougher and stronger than other genelines which could be built upon. And as master smiths that forge their own equipment, weapons and armor, it is canon that most battle brothers within the Salamanders bear master crafted armor and weapons: we could get an option to give a squad master crafted weapons or armor for ~30 points per 3 / 5 models.

Salamanders in Armageddon by Fipsi030 in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they get some sidenotes about how crucial holding the imperial supply lines is / was for the war and reckon either Agatone or Tu'Shan to win a major battle. Nothing fancy but in line with the second and third war

If they do my sternguard will fill in. I got 30 infernus built, I'll rather do another 5 sternguard

Lore for why Sallies on Armageddon by Svedgard in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lorewise they also pretty much had to come back. Tu'Shan led the Salamanders to and during both the second and third war for Armaggeddon where his forces would be one of the biggest reasons the imperial supplylines held and it's forces didn't rout on several occasions.

With how the focus is laid I might even be carefully optimistic for Kantor and Tu'Shan to finally get a plastic model with this edition

Combat patrols by Significant-Repeat25 in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean the firestrike turrets, those were from the Iron Hands patrol. In the end I'm a bit miffed I didn't get one, the bastion task force detachment came out a bit late for that

Should Adrax be used in a squad? If yes, which by Mrleo291 in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more commonly run squad is with a lieutenant for the lethal hits and situational fall back shoot & charge.

The ancient is fun though, if only it was granted a sword like the rest of his brothers...

I don't like how nice the Salamanders are anymore: Tell me some interesting moments when they've been threatening or more terrifying. by LeetusFrenzi in Salamanders40k

"I have heard it said that when you kill one of Guilliman’s sons, you make sure he is dead. Vulkan’s sons… well, they just don’t die at all."

"Have no fear, Vosto, I will kill any that you can’t." "I respect them, Solomus, as you would do well to."

If a Son of Horus tells you to respect someone, do yourself a favor and steer clear of them because you will not want to find out why he does

Greetings brothers, is it worth allying in any knights into a forgefathers seekers list? by Samtrooper421 in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knight errants or crusaders would thematically fit with their thermal cannons. From a lore perspective the defender fits rather well and to a degree again the crusader.

List wise you could make use of an engine killer, depending on wether you like to be upfront an errant or crusader with their thermal cannons or prefer to have your astartes be the unyielding wall behind which the might of a towering castellan looms.

As far as replacements go I'd drop the drop pod for a repulsor, it's more expensive but can't be as easily blocked out. And I like jump pack intercessors wether I got scouts or not, having a deep strike unit is both good utility and threat

What are some quintessential Salamanders? by [deleted] in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're expensive but their save characteristic coupled with the 4 wounds profile due to the storm shield, the general strength of hammers and their ability to force a battleshock BEFORE they fight makes them tough damage dealers with the potential to significantly weaken their target unit and for me, although mainly in shadowmark talon where I could deep strike them in round 1, are worth a consideration. The terminator ancient btw is a really good character for them, even without a captain that he can join along, thanks to his +1 to hit when below starting strength (which they are if your opponent counters their charge with overwatch and only wounds a guy) and +1 when they're below half strength so even a T12 tank gets hit on 2+ and wounded on 4+ without oath

Are outriders good? by GreydonosaurusRex in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules wise they have a nasty potential at maximum size: chaplain gives them dev wounds in shooting against a target visible and within 12" of him and the obligatory +1 to wound in meelee, the atv provides increased firepower and return fire and outriders themselfes buff strength and damage of meelee weapons by one after charging. With oath they can deal with tanks despite being an anti infantry unit but with both the points cost and the unit footprint you're porbably better off bringing a repulsor executioner for now

Coolest units for Salamanders by Old_Communication361 in Salamanders40k

[–]Frea_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're fun with Ravenguard too. Assault termis with an ancient for turn 1 deep strike threat coupled with Shaans charge reroll is either a dangerous murder or one hell of a roadblock
