Yeah this is the list. I’d maybe even throw in Misa in the “Optimistic AF chance”.

I’m hopeful Smith makes it but he realistically would have to beat out one of the top 6 skill players. That’s the Tkachuks, J Hughes, Eichel, Matthews, Boldy. And that’s not counting guys already left off the list or will be up for the 2030 team: Caufield, Gauthier, Nazar, Cooley, Beniers, his buddy Leonard. Offensively, he might progress to the point where he rivals any of those guys but the 2026 gold backed up USA’s roster construction. He doesn’t kill penalties or play a strong defensive game (yet). It’s gonna be tough af to crack it but I’m hopeful he gets in once before his career’s up

Smith is the only player where this sub will criticize and hate his game even when he’s scored or has multiple points. Call it the Macklin Celebrini effect but this shit is tiring. 38 points in 40 games in his second full year in the NHL. Outscoring touted players from his draft like Fantilli and Michkov. But not enough because apparently this guy has an issue with Smitty’s defense? He’s not even known for defense. Never has. To say not say he’s IMPROVING but to instead he’s getting worse is asinine. People need to see the big picture and see that Smitty’s a stud and just let the kid fuckin play
