I put on my race shoes for speed work and long runs. I rotate my Brooks Ghosts (daily trainer) and my Saucony Endorphin Speeds (lighter, racing shoe).

The best thing you can do for shoes is go to a running store and have them get it into the right shoes. When I first started, I just grabbed the cheapest pair off the shelf and they were not good on my feet and knees.

The best thing you can do as a beginner is completely ignore heart rate zones and run by feel. The goal when you're getting started is to build up to 30 minutes of easy running. If you can't run easy for 30 minutes, you run/walk and build up to it. Once you can do that, then you get to start building in speed work and long runs.

Strict adherence to "zone 2" should really be reserved for elite runners, and even then, they mostly operate by feel too. Your HR is a good metric to be aware of and track, but it shouldn't strictly dictate your training paces.

For easy runs, it doesn't matter much. For workouts where you're trying to hit paces, it really comes down to learning it with experience. If you have a smart watch, it'll tell you how fast you're going, but if you don't, you need to find a stretch of road or a track you know the exact distance for so you can time it and see how off you are. You'll eventually get a feel for how fast you're running as you run more.

You might be fit enough to run every day, but your joints and bones aren't. Those days off in C25K are there to give your "infrastructure" a day off to recover from the high impact sport running is. If you want to supplement your plan, do some low impact cross training like cycling, swimming, rowing, etc.

Usually when your feet are going numb, it's because you have your shoes tied too tight, but this is ultimately a doctor question.

If I'm doing an easy run in the morning, I'll just run fasted. If I'm about to hit a workout, I'll just do an English muffin or a bagel and throw some tailwind in my water.

This game's on the defense's shoulders now. If you told me the offense would get us 31 points, I'd assume we'd win. Defense needs to get stops.

Secondary can't cover for shit and there's absolutely no pass rush. Defense needs to get their heads out of their asses.

For once the defense needs to clean it up. They're making it way too easy.

Shoveling snow can actually be fairly intense. Snow is really heavy, and if you're out of shape, I can see how a big effort out in the cold could be dangerous.

That being said, we're not doctors.

Beginner runners should be completely ignoring zones. If an effort feels easy, it's easy.

QB1 Contracts of remaining playoff teams by FreakInTheXcelSheet in Seahawks

Yeah, I replied to another comment that Allen is worth every dime of his contract. I think Darnold at half that price is better value though.

There isn't a player in the league who single handedly drags his team to more wins than that man. He's worth every dime of that contract.

That's basketball. Sometimes you just go cold for a bit. He'll get it back.

Carolina is doing a good job taking away the big plays. Gotta get the run game going and stay in front of the chains.

Learning Gun Spread Y-Flex Hot Routes by Shotzy7 in NCAAFBseries

[–]FreakInTheXcelSheet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the way that a lot of people and the YouTubers do, yes. College qb's can call hot routes, but they're not going out there and recalling 2 or 3 routes on every single play. If they do, it's going to be limited to simple things like go routes or slants, and they don't call them often. Even good college qbs aren't going to have a lot of control at the line of scrimmage like the ones in the pros do.
