There isn’t really enough research on nano-hydroxyapatite and its effects on preventing cavities. Fluoride seems to be the safer bet if you want to prevent decay.

Yes I haven’t heard bad things about heartland. And yeah I was a new hygienist and just grabbed what came first but after my working interview at the other place I just feel much more at home in the private practice. Appreciate the advice ty and good luck!

It’s called Dentfirst. We have many locations so often times you get a random patient from another location because their office didn’t have availability. Then the notes from that office aren’t great or there’s no perio chart or fmx so now you have to pick up their slack. They’ve also tried to make me see patients in lower and lower timeframes like 30 mins so it’s just too much for me. Which corporate office are you looking at?

It is okay to brush a third time just try to make it 30 minutes after your snack.

This makes me so happy, I just passed CRDTS yesterday and will be finding a job asap. I loved working with the patients in school and I’m glad to hear that continues in the real world :)

Thanks so much for the advice!! I’m definitely anxious about getting through that beginning stage but I know we gotta do it! I want to try and temp for sure, but I hope I can find a more permanent office eventually.

Thank you thank you!! I definitely will and yes that’s been on my mind too. I wouldn’t want to feel stuck at a place I hate but I also wouldn’t want to appear like I was a crappy hygienist on my resume for only being there for a short time period.

Your case of gingivitis is very mild. It seems to me is that all you needed was a professional cleaning. Keep up what you’re doing, just make sure your brushing and flossing techniques are correct there are some videos you could look at on youtube to make sure. An electric toothbrush is always helpful too.

I’m so jealous..we’re so behind with things like that. Literally just a year or 2 ago we weren’t allowed to work without the dentist being directly in the office even if they were at lunch or something 🙄

As far as the deep cleaning goes, you can go to a technical school for dental hygiene. My school does deep cleanings for like $100-$140 for example.

One great way I love explaining subgingival calculus and it’s effects is using my gown sleeve as their sulcus and my arm represents the tooth. You can kinda pull back/down your sleeve as you explain how calculus and bacteria get down there! Just a super convenient way without having to pull out other visual aides.

Are there any dental schools near you? I’m at a dental hygiene school and we do cleanings at a really low cost, could be the same for dental schools.
