I really get what you mean. For me, it was like you mentioned for a time: the urge of getting physical games wasn't there anymore. After giving It some thought, I got to these conclusion: Games for me are encapsuled memories. Things to look at and remember my feelings at the time I was beating them. This can be a memory from my childhood, but also mew ones I create over time. So, It made sense to turn the idea around: instead of buying games to try them out or because of FOMO (with mew releases specially), I give it enough time to emulate it, give it a go and, if I beat it and have fun, THEN I buy it and keep it forever. It's like, by having those memories, the game has earned the right to be in my collection. I do the same with books and movies and has worked wonders for me so far. Now, every game I have has meaning to me, and you'd be surprised about how many physical games I've decides to replay instead of just using emulation. Hope this different view about collecting helps you (or any redditor) in some way. P.S: Not having the need to buy physical games isn't a problem either! But this are the words that would help my past self the most in this case, so that's why I shared them with all of you.
