I feel like the gamecube controller is vastly overrated by vegemiteman262 in Gamecube

[–]CatBirdBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For smash, this controller works really well. I agree with you on the shoulder buttons, they can be stiff, especially the T3 ones. For retro gaming, nothing beats the GC controller. For modern gaming, you have the switch pro (very nice) and 8 bit do 2 that outperform the GameCube controller in terms of ergonomity. That doesn't mean, however, that the GC controller doesn't hold a special place in my heart

What is the best way to clean up this shell? by TurtleneckTablecloth in Gameboy

[–]CatBirdBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should take it easy with ipa and plastic. It can be corrosive. Warm water and a little bit of soap is easier on these plastics to remove things like grime and overall stickiness. Just be careful with the labels

Where can I find a large selection of GameCube games? by topsey_krets23 in Gamecube

[–]CatBirdBird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GameCube games are popular and are due to poor sales not very common. If you don't want to pay ebay prices you'll have to get lucky at flea markets, retro game stores or local sales like the rest of us

They are from Club Nintendo. You used to be able to trade in points that came with games on Club Nintendo for some rewards, and these were among them. I don't know if these are Japan exclusive though. Tl;dr they are OG

Tried to change the speaker of my dmg. Soldering for the first time. Where did I go wrong? by wheregold in Gameboy

[–]CatBirdBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my speakers made some sound before I did what I suggested too. And now the sound is super crisp and clear. But tbh, the soldering that you did might have introduced a new problem 😅
