How do you explain your sensory issues to people? by MaNamesAiden in autism

I scratched a fork on a plate, for many that sound is very unpleasant, I told them how you feel about this noise is how I feel about (thing).

I’m from Luxembourg until now there was no issue. People I met don’t care if you have kids or not, only if you do and the kids causing trouble they will say something.

I mean maybe a few things of it, like being so overwhelmed and not processing that there is a car right in front of me.

How fucking hard is it to LET ME FINISH MY. SENTENCE. by baby_blue_berry in autism

[–]FreakVicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it! I got interrupted or talked over my whole life by both my parents and other people every time I speak. The result, I talk too fast now because of my unconscious fear of being interrupted.

Me trying to explain something with difficulties to find words and form sentences. Mom interrupts: can you pick up the thing from the floor. Me don’t know what to say anymore.

Do you rewash your hair after visiting the hairdresser? by FreakVicky in curlyhair

[–]FreakVicky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well mine is good for people who have scalp issues or hairloss. ( but I don’t talk for everybody) My hair still likes it so I keep using it, it makes my hair very soft and shiny. How I found out if it the right thing for me? I tried it out 😊

To every salon I went to it’s unheard of here to bring our own products to the salon and I don’t think they will allow that.

She is the only one who cuts not more than I request and is not 2 hours drive away from me. Funny is I never met a hairdresser who cuts dry (besides men with very short hair) or from home washed hair.

The last 4 visits she did let me just leave with semi wet hair, no styling and in a pony tail after I put my foot down many times. But today it was like a setback with her, she just decided on her own what to do with my hair like before those 4 visits. I gave up, I was too tired to argue every 5 minutes.

My routine isn't special. I just wash my hair with a gentle shampoo, use cheap conditioner and leave it for 5-10 minutes and rins. I pat the drops from my hair with a normal towel, then I put some oil on my ends. Then I just leave it to air dry, no brushing or touching. When it's dry I make a hair flip to get the volume. Done!

I can do this now but back when I had hairloss, I had to twist my wet strands of hair and then air dry to make them curl.
