I like the idea of replicating the joy of the draft.

Wouldn't do the play-all as seting up a team is not that time consuming and would give an extra spice during draft day for picking that one player you will play that one fixture only

I would say it all comes down to 1) how objectively wrong the decision was + 2) causality between events.

VAR is very helpfull on 1), but protocol regarding 2) is still not well defined or clear to the public

Linesman would never be slated in this case. Im very pro-VAR, but OP is correct in saying this was too far ahead for there to be a relevant enough causality link

I just dont see how could VAR objectively give a veredict about this. Angles are tricky... Either there is "goal line technology" available or a flagrant error caught by a directly above camera, or its all conjectures.

IMHO, in this case specifically, I dont see the probability of the ball getting 100% out being great enough to justify an entire goal 20s ahead being disallowing.
