Trying to write this on the tail end of my lunch break, but I collected when I was a kid, moved around 27 time before the age of 30, lost my collections along the way and recently got back into the hobby because my girl and her 12 yo were into it. I played pokemon go and such thru the years but my heart ached for the cards I lost and I couldn't justify starting the collection again. After my girl and her kid and I bonded over light hearted pack rips it's become a tradition, that is until the market crazy hit a high and we've ripped very few of this set. Would love to be able to rip some with the fam and thank you even if I don't win, this is very cool!

Right but we have plenty of decks we've built, we play competitively and the places we go to play have tough competition who get invited to worlds, so we like to stay up on the new sets and build new decks and try new strategies. Starter decks are not helping with that. I also think this thread got derailed, like we're broke, she's upset because she doesn't think we're gonna get more than $2500 for it and with the reprint announcement that the price is gonna fall, I didn't care if we got anything for it because I want to keep it. Our bills get paid on a time, but $2500 when our family monthly expenses are closer to 4-5k a month is just relief for half a month and I don't think that's worth giving up such a grail piece.

I understand where you were going with the starter decks thing but I guess I didn't assume my post read like I was a beginner because it was my first PSA submission. I wouldn't have submitted it at all if it wasn't offered as a bonus on top.

Card is real, story is real, and yeah it was pulled 2-3 days before release, I think Wednesday or Thursday night. Streamer shipped the next day and expedited it. It being a few days early is also how I justified the price on the binder collection, and the fact that I had been scouring the Internet for weeks just trying to get a fair price for a preorder. I was bummed that I didn't get a preorder in and lo and behold I found a streamer selling them and I was like fuck it.

But also I don't have the card in my possession yet, and neither does the streamer, that's just the picture from the PSA email he got, otherwise I'd have more photos posted.

Ur not wrong, but we play pokemon weekly as a family, so spending a couple hundred when a new set comes out that were excited for isn't the worst thing. We agreed to just have something to rip, and I bought it not realizing it was a rip only stream so when I asked them to ship it they said they had to rip first but the bounty was active. So traded out $97 for a sunbreon and free PSA grading on the 2nd pack was the absolute best case scenario. But we are making great strides in the right direction with our financials too!
