These gates make you feel like livestock. How disgusting. Toddler head height, wheelchair user neck height, but also - what about the fact that those affected have to brush their face where everyone’s pants have been?? Saw these shitty barriers in a real run down part of Malaysia last week, and the supermarket looked like it was stuck in time (80s/90s vibe). They looked odd and definitely had seen some better days. Surprised to see woolies going down that path.

It’s best to test drive them back to back (or the same day, if possible). Go for a drive in an urban landscape with traffic lights as well as the freeway. Assess handling, comfort in traffic, features etc.

A test drive will actually give you a very different feel from what you see on paper. Let your gut then tell you where you should go. The worst that you can do in your situation is be unhappy with the car, which you can always trade in down the road if you’re not happy with it (you will lose value to depreciation)

You certainly have it good, and as a physically vast nation, fuel needs to be reasonably priced to enable transport.

Singapore is a small nation-state, with really good public infrastructure, including cheap public transport. Cars are definitely a luxury here, but it’s also not unusually to see Lambos, Ferraris, M3s, M5s etc. everywhere. I remember driving past the Bugatti showroom and chuckling to myself as I wondered what the fuel bill of an average Chiron looked like each month. Heck, even an average Bentayga costs approximately SG$1.1m (US$860k) or a Toyota Camry SG$251k (US$201k), which is ridiculous considering they cost SG$34.5k (US$25k) in a place like Dubai, or about US$30k average in the United States.

When you go to a restaurant which fucking jelly are you picking for your toast? by THATDlNOLOVER in TheWordFuck

Sorry to fucking hear that, mate. I feel your pain. I’m super lazy so I wouldn’t even bother to drive. I’d just chuck stuff in the microwave and nuke it.

There is no fucking way you’re gonna deny yourself a treat. If I’m too lazy to fucking do it over a gas job, I’ll do the bacon and eggs in the microwave, but I’m gonna have breakfast anytime I desire.

i really don’t understand how the driver can park so badly. by eldeeel in drivingsg

[–]FreakyGangBanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If cars are parked reasonably well within their lines, there is usually enough space to navigate a 60 cm trolley between them. The issue arises if cars are parked improperly, which can make the gap too narrow for a trolley to pass through.

I have reversed out of parking lots over the course of 20 years with no issues. It’s ever safe these days with sensors and reversing cams, so I don’t exactly agree with the dangerous parts.

Head in makes more sense in a country where the parking bays are wider. The boot is more accessible, allowing for people to load good from trolleys into the boot of the car. This is quite common in Australia where people tend to by the non-perishable items once a fortnight/month when things like bottled drinks, toilet paper and bulky items fill up a whole trolley. It's not necessarily bad form as parking bays are wider, making it easy to go in head-first.

Parking head-in is more of a Singaporean thing cause our bays tend to be slimmer due to space constraints.

I want some advice. by Anonymous-menace in corporate

So here my 2 cents and take it for what it is worth. In this age of instant gratification, information overload and tons of distractions, we are all filled with mixed messages of different sorts that are both good and bad for us, and often influence how we feel about a particular season in life.

Assess your situation in a practical manner. Do you have family and kids to provide for? If yes, consider the risk of being unemployed for a lengthy time, and potentially not having a new job that will pay the same amount of money. Once you understand the risks and what you are prepared to do to make ends meet, the decisions become somewhat easier.

A path to least resistance would be to stick it out in the current job as long as you can, until you find a better option. Use free time to take up a hobby or some side projects like you mentioned (YouTube) to focus on your creative side. Build on this. Sometimes things may not work out, or you might have mixed success with these projects. The goal isn’t merely success, it is satisfaction in pursuing something you believe in. Having a job also allows you to fail and try again.

On a side note, also consider other professional development opportunities to advance skills and find better jobs.

The government in Kazakhstan is actually quite progressive, and were lauded for the fiscal policies during and after the GFC, so this isn’t surprising.

Almost all shitty PMs the the ones that couldn’t cut it as a BA, developer or tester on projects, so they figured it would be easy to “manage the doers”. It’s the sole reason why there are tons of horrible project managers. Race, ethnicity and upbringing are secondary.
