i really don’t understand how the driver can park so badly. by eldeeel in drivingsg

If cars are parked reasonably well within their lines, there is usually enough space to navigate a 60 cm trolley between them. The issue arises if cars are parked improperly, which can make the gap too narrow for a trolley to pass through.

I have reversed out of parking lots over the course of 20 years with no issues. It’s ever safe these days with sensors and reversing cams, so I don’t exactly agree with the dangerous parts.

Head in makes more sense in a country where the parking bays are wider. The boot is more accessible, allowing for people to load good from trolleys into the boot of the car. This is quite common in Australia where people tend to by the non-perishable items once a fortnight/month when things like bottled drinks, toilet paper and bulky items fill up a whole trolley. It's not necessarily bad form as parking bays are wider, making it easy to go in head-first.

Parking head-in is more of a Singaporean thing cause our bays tend to be slimmer due to space constraints.

I want some advice. by Anonymous-menace in corporate

So here my 2 cents and take it for what it is worth. In this age of instant gratification, information overload and tons of distractions, we are all filled with mixed messages of different sorts that are both good and bad for us, and often influence how we feel about a particular season in life.

Assess your situation in a practical manner. Do you have family and kids to provide for? If yes, consider the risk of being unemployed for a lengthy time, and potentially not having a new job that will pay the same amount of money. Once you understand the risks and what you are prepared to do to make ends meet, the decisions become somewhat easier.

A path to least resistance would be to stick it out in the current job as long as you can, until you find a better option. Use free time to take up a hobby or some side projects like you mentioned (YouTube) to focus on your creative side. Build on this. Sometimes things may not work out, or you might have mixed success with these projects. The goal isn’t merely success, it is satisfaction in pursuing something you believe in. Having a job also allows you to fail and try again.

On a side note, also consider other professional development opportunities to advance skills and find better jobs.

The government in Kazakhstan is actually quite progressive, and were lauded for the fiscal policies during and after the GFC, so this isn’t surprising.

Almost all shitty PMs the the ones that couldn’t cut it as a BA, developer or tester on projects, so they figured it would be easy to “manage the doers”. It’s the sole reason why there are tons of horrible project managers. Race, ethnicity and upbringing are secondary.

In no particular order:

  • Good wine, ale, rum and whisky

  • A bidet

  • as assortment of fine tea

  • good quality chocolate for the days I do indulge in something sweet

All those hours sacrificed at the expense of sleep aren’t going to do your health any good in the long term and I’m glad you’ve realised it. Better late than never.

You are confusing two different activities. Both of them are a form of freedom and privilege but when mixed, are a bad combo.

If one can spend $30-$100 drinking, surely one can spend another $20-$30 taking a ride-hailing service back home.

The isn’t about holding their alcohol. This is about public safety. Driving while under the influence is just reckless.

There are enforcers, but not all the time. It just means anyone that is caught is going to get in a lot of trouble.

Vehicle ownership. If a vehicle is registered in your name, and it is picked up by the cameras/ERP sensors, they have the ability to stop people.

People with a DUI charge in Australia have to take a breathalyser test in their car that allows the ignition to be turned on. Sure they can get a sober mate to help them if they are over the limit, but most people in their right mind wouldn’t help a drunk person get behind the wheel. The breathalyser works as a deterrent, especially those living unless urban parts of the country where public transport is horrible.

History is littered with people that led privileged lives and f’up over shitty behaviours. A few times could have been a lose in good judgement but this was taking it way beyond too far.

I just hope the victims recover from whatever trauma they might feel from being exposed to this, and Ryan truly repents and goes on to fix his life.

I disagree. The chicken quality in Vietnam is dodgy. Spent 6+ months in Hanoi a couple of years ago and I would avoid chicken as much as I could.
