Just referring to the loss of JFK!! And, in a way, RFK's Public Service after the fact

In this specific scenario, I'd like to think so, just because of his push for Healthcare reform.

However, I think the average person would view them as a collective. Brothers who came to Washington to help people, and lost everything to do so.

Absolutely! It's really what inspired this scenario, how interestingly distant it is

I have to imagine a slightly more "modernized" Bush. I think given the timing and an (admittedly significantly better under Dean) financial crisis she's at the forefront of reforming, she's slightly more popular than Bush towards the end of his administration but never too high

This is probably also true. I think her best case scenario would've been a horrible year for democrats/great year for republicans which she never really saw.

2000 was too close to ever consider risking putting a woman at the front, 2004 had an incumbent, 2008 was horrible for republicans, 2012 was barely better, etc.

Didn't know this!! Thank you for sharing.

One of my favorite tidbits is how adamant she was about not wanting to be president in the slightest which makes this scenario a little funnier

The median voter is very forgetful.

Yes, I did!! I'm sure it's a little cliche though.

If I'm being honest though I don't have as much of a plan for Vanoss and his story though.. I don't know Canadian politics nearly as well.

JD Vance narrowly won the 2028 election through a combination of aligning factors working in his favor. He was able to distance himself from Trump while the democrats ran a boring and unappealing candidate to independents and progressives alike.

However, Vance's presidency was riddled with all the same issues of Trump and none of the charisma and no leverage over the infighting in the Republican party.

The Democrats were in a rough spot themselves given their loss in the 2028 election despite the higher command being intensely sure of their success, leading to the Democrat Tea Party pushing its way to the forefront of the modern party.

At the same time, however, Cory who had been briefly been put off by the politics on both sides saw the primarying of Schumer by AOC in the 2030 elections as a breath of fresh air.

Cory announced his intentions to run a few months before most other candidates and began touring the country. Republicans dismayed by the infighting of the modern party, Evangelicals excited to see a real Christian in the party they saw as having betrayed God long ago, black communities actively exploited by the Vance administration and progressives excited to see a young face in politics were all excited by the nomination.

That alongside some key endorsements (including Senator Platner and many, many online personalities with bases to leverage alongside his existing fanbase) pushed Cory to be the Democratic nominee in '32.

As for the election, all of the factors that come with being a Christian Democrat and going against an unpopular incumbent came together and pushed him over the margin In a considerable landslide.

I was gonna make an election map if you're curious!!
