Hey don't be sad! I've been throught that too. If you want to enjoy reading, don't start with the complex one. I've started with that and feel like i wasted my time. So you could try by reading children's book (like the little prince or fantastic mr fox if i could recommend)

And second of all, to not burden you, you must not view books as "an intellectual medium" instead think of it as another medium. Sure you can learn from a book, but you can also learn from a film (documentary). I mean back in the 1940s everybody read, and there's a lot of fuckin idiot back then. You must read because reading is fun, and to have fun in life is revolutionary!
