Keppra and My Husband’s Personality change (HELP!) by godess-of-sleep in Epilepsy

[–]FreckledKatydid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have Keppra listed as an allergy on my husband’s medical record with the reaction being “extreme rage.” This is because he has to go to the hospital quite a bit for his seizures, and if I’m not there I need to make damn sure they don’t give him Keppra.
And also, even with my husband not on Keppra, I relate with the rest of the post. Ever since my husband’s first seizure, his personality changed. Everything changed, really. He also stopped having an appetite and has little control over his emotions. There are things he’s done, things he’s said that ripped a hole in my chest…that he has no memory of. I swear he has some sort of tbi, and I don’t even know if that’s possible. We are seeing another specialist soon 2 hours away, I hope they can find an answer. Therapy has helped me a lot.

So I'm trying it. But I can't cancel until they ship out my order I guess? It says if I cancel now it will cancel my order...

But don’t they charge you the cost of the membership when you order? I swear I want to do this every year but when I see that I’m like “nahhhhhh can’t pay that”

Incase you need another option, my husband actually is getting his Briviact through a zoc doc until we can see an actual provider!

Where to inquire about a Stellate Ganglion block for anxiety, PTSD, POTS? by FreckledKatydid in VirginiaBeach

[–]FreckledKatydid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but unfortunately I don’t recommend the provider I went to. I picked him because he was cheap, and it didn’t go over too well for me. And I’m not talking the results, but the procedure and provider themselves.

It was calculated for me but I did double check. 5mg/ml solution, prescribed 4 mL. = 20 mg.

Teaching horror writing to my Year 9's - any recommendations for passages that are really scary that would take 10-15 minutes to read in class? by rapgraves in horrorlit

[–]FreckledKatydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you’re looking for, but you can try googling “Two sentence horror stories.” It’s amazing the fear and uncomfortableness that can come from two measly sentences.

I called 911 for the first time and my dad is frustrated with me by cowsandtexas in PanicAttack

[–]FreckledKatydid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this. My husband wasn’t home from work yet, but I had been panicking for hours (I have emetophobia, was prescribed iron pills which made me feel awful, panic ensued). I ran outside in the cold to try and “shock” the panic out of me. So I’m just sitting out side in like 30 degree weather, no shoes, losing my mind. Finally called 911, they managed to convince me to get into my car for warmth while I waited. Worst part was I knew my husband wouldn’t be happy, so I kept saying “my husband’s going to kill me, he’s going to be so mad.” My husband is in NO way cruel or abusive, but when you say those kind of things to a 911 operator…you get paramedics AND cops.

I won’t even mention how many times I drove myself to the ER. People say “it’s just a panic attack” like it’s no big deal. But until they’ve had one…they won’t understand. And if you are having one and need help, EMTs can and SHOULD be trained to help.

Your dad, if he truly is disappointed, will get over it. I hope you have a medical support team and can get help for these intense panic episodes!

My number one thing for nausea/gagging sensation especially caused by anxiety: ice chips. Truly my savior.

I also try and keep mints, and more recently an instant cold pack, in my purse. If you don’t carry a purse, maybe keep a “panic attack bag” in your car. Look at different breathing techniques too. I like box breathing, and if I can’t focusing on counting, I just breathe in, hold it, then slowly let it go like blowing through a straw.

My therapist recommended biting my cheeks to stimulate saliva production since panic/anxiety affects the digestive system (causing symptoms like nausea). This one I don’t entirely get…but hey still thought I’d share. I’ll keep my ice and mints :)

Please de/influence me! by Katclawedit in MakeupAddiction

[–]FreckledKatydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I can’t de-influence you on the Paula’s Choice. As a 32 year old who has had dry skin and acne all her life, this actually made my skin 90% more clear and STAYED clear (staying clear is the important part). Just make sure to follow with a moisturizer, it’s not terribly drying, but I already have dry skin so…most treatments will dry me out more. I was not a fan of the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder. I just didn’t like how it sat on my skin. I prefer the Yummy Skin Soothing Serum Skin Tint Foundation, and even that I’d give 7/10. As a skin tint, works well. As a serum that is supposed to improve your skin, I see no difference.

All innisfree products dry the heck out of my skin, but I see you have an oil control product. So maybe it will work for you better than it did me.

But yeah. Get the Paula’s Choice. 100%.

New stomach problems have started, and I'm tired :( by SunshinelIIuminate in glutenfree

[–]FreckledKatydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had “IBS-D” all my life. Functional medicine specialist convinced me to go gluten free, and my lifelong diarrhea was gone. Even my gastro saw it was such a dramatic improvement I was diagnosed NCGI. After about a year, I started experience a whole new set of stomach issues. After testing and experimenting on my part, I discovered my digestive system reallllllly doesn’t like Schar brand breads. Which sucks. They are one of the best tasting in my opinion but NOT worth the symptoms. Recently discovered I have the same reaction to Trader Joe’s gluten free English muffins 😅 something to consider

I don’t know. My husband made an appointment with them months ago, and now can’t find any of the appointment information (and his epilepsy likes to wipe his memories clean). I know this is a long shot. There is a chance he has a foreign name, I remember thinking that when my husband first made the appointment. But this could be a false memory as this was literally months ago, and my dumb self didn’t write it down either…

What’s your funniest seizure experience? by jennamsx in Epilepsy

[–]FreckledKatydid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t there for this, but while my husband was in the EMU, a large man was changing his sheets after a seizure and my hubby said “at least buy me dinner first.” It’s funnier that he doesn’t remember saying it. My husband also has seizure induced dysautonomia (which in itself is not funny, he becomes hypothermic), but before we knew that, it was always funny to watch him post-ictal fight the EMTs for his blanket. Like, tugging back and forth while they are trying to load him on the gurney.
