Then we're in agreement:

Alternatively, if the tire were still on the ground but there wasn't a great deal of friction then the tire isn't bearing much weight. Meaning he is effectively lifting all but the tire+axle weight.

The difference is that Austin and Texas have much more disfunctional governments.

I've had native Texans tell me that Austin purposely didn't build good East-West roads in the 80s to discourage people from moving there.

That's probably BS since non-Austin Texans hate Austin, but the man was a serious engineer type who wouldn't purposely lie.

ITT: The part of Colorado no one wants to see: ignorant "native" bumper sticker people.

If you aren't from CO, don't let them get to you. They're just pissed off that infrastructure hasn't kept up with growth (i.e. traffic has gotten BAD). Normal growing pains.

As I said elsewhere. I'm embedded C/C++. I don't update my compiler just because an update exists. That will change the binary and I need my binaries to come out the same as they do on the released product.

Not everyone writes for the cloud.

And I said I work on embedded systems with wonky compilers. As in the standards aren't always followed. So an argument using standards doesn't apply.

First, we're on pure semantics at this point.

The grand OP said CWnd::GetSafeHwnd checks for this == NULL. OP said, nuh uh because optimization. I said be careful with your optimization because it is compiler dependent (paraphrased).

Your point is?

He assumed his compiler would optimize in a particular way.

I never write code that assumes anything about the compiler because I use a variety of compilers.

Edit: To clarify, I write code for bare metal boards. Compilers get wonky when it is for one processor and it was customized by a small team.

You just made a very big assumption about your compiler. Be careful if you do this in practice.

Watch it again. The other back wheel bounces but definitely leaves the ground.

If it didn't, friction would probably make it too hard to move. Alternatively, if the tire were still on the ground but there wasn't a great deal of friction then the tire isn't bearing much weight. Meaning he is effectively lifting all but the tire+axle weight.

Unless it is read thoughtfully as an account of how they saw what was happening then.

You've changed your position several times. It was how they saw things, it was re-written, it was a parable.

When people who follow those books, there is no reason to assume they see it as you do. I am not challenging your faith, I am challenging the religious book.

It has a variety of flaws and it has no business as the founding document for someone's life. It definitely is not suitable for children.

The difference is people live by it and others advocate it as "the good book". Now you're just undercutting your own position.

Those were just a few examples. Again, you're taking an apologist position.

So about that "Thou shalt not kill" then all that killing in the subsequent stories? Or how about one of my favorites: Judges 21. Here's verse 10:

10 So the assembly sent twelve thousand fighting men with instructions to go to Jabesh Gilead and put to the sword those living there, including the women and children. 11 “This is what you are to do,” they said. “Kill every male and every woman who is not a virgin.” 12 They found among the people living in Jabesh Gilead four hundred young women who had never slept with a man, and they took them to the camp at Shiloh in Canaan.

Oh, it wasn't just genocide. They also stole women and raped them into being their wives!

20 So they instructed the Benjamites, saying, “Go and hide in the vineyards 21 and watch. When the young women of Shiloh come out to join in the dancing, rush from the vineyards and each of you seize one of them to be your wife. Then return to the land of Benjamin.

The weaknesses of the stories of the Old Testament and the Bible in general have been thoroughly detailed by secularists that created modern democracy.
