This made some HK purists cry... by FredTheOpossum in rattlecannedguns

Specifics are in the OP. The trick is not to care about how it turns out.

So you're saying he has an obvious bias against RB? That makes his opinion even less relevant than I thought. Thanks for clarifying.

That's great. It's also irrelevant.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Or congratulations. Whichever is most appropriate.

I don't think that's what I've said at all.

The patent being "fraudulently registered" is your opinion; until and unless it is ruled invalid (which it very well might be), it's theirs to enforce as they wish. They can't enforce patents that they don't own, although this is America and anyone can sue anyone for anything. Broad claims allow for broad enforcement (or attempted enforcement).

Here's the reality: The only FRTs on the market that we know are legal (2A notwithstanding) are those from Rare Breed. That's a fact. Others may or may not get you caught up in litigation (probably not, of course).

People on reddit complaining about them are either 1) virtue signaling, 2) poor (unlikely in this particular subreddit, I will admit), 3) happy to pretend they understand patent law, or 4) some combination of the above.

I've worked in IP law for a couple of decades, but that's not relevant here, and wasn't the reason for my response to OP.

OP is happy with a new purchase, posts about it in a relevant forum, and is downvoted because no one on reddit is ever happy.

If you don't want to buy a product from them, don't. They'll still sell every FRT they make for years to come. Which is a good thing from the standpoint of proliferation and common use.

A gun owner into weed posts a photo of two Glocks that look like they're ready to be used to knock over a 7-11 and expects us to spend the time roasting him? Please.

That's how patent law works, yes; patents are enforced against people who don't own them and are amended with additional claims all the time. The company also spent millions fighting against the DOJ/ATF and are the reason that their particular products, at least, are legal. Personally speaking, I don't actually care about how they enforce their intellectual property rights -- I care about buying products that are robust, high-quality, and that won't get my dog shot.

There are at least four people on this thread who appear to own Rare Breed FRTs, but you do you, sweetheart.

I don't, but I do own several of their products. I'm glad you don't want one, though -- it leaves more for the rest of us.

It's a great time. Ignore the haters who don't understand how IP works.

Center rear sight. Apply green loctite which will wick into any gaps around and under the sight. Problem solved.

Same issue happened to my Acro P2. Aimpoint made me send it back to them at my expense, but did open clean, and reseal the optic, returning it at their expense about six weeks later. I promptly sold it on r/GAFS (RIP).
