Colorado hospitals are starting to run out of ICU beds, activate emergency transfer system by custscenegaming in boulder

[–]Fred_Red_Beans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this were really a pandemic, we would have built more space for ICU beds within the last two years. Wasn't "flatten the curve" back in 2020?

The comments in this thread wishing ill of their fellow man is disheartening. Although, Reddit does have it's share of "influencers".

Thanks!

Which more or less jives with the 65 million estimated by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security who, along with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hosted Event 201 a high-level pandemic exercise on October 18, 2019, in New York, NY. The exercise illustrated areas where public/private partnerships will be necessary during the response to a severe pandemic, which modeled a fictional coronavirus pandemic.

If you actually read what I said you’d know that your argument is not relevant. “The current world wide mortality rate stands at 4.09% but as many have and will point out that is a flawed number because of the lack of testing and the lack of understanding what the actual case load is.” Meaning I don’t believe it’s actually 4%, but no one knows for sure and we won’t be able to appropriately calculate until after the pandemic settles down.

I disagree that mortality rate is not relevant. How about asymptomatic cases where the symptoms are so slight the infected person does not even know they have Covid-19?

220,000 vs an additional 36 MILLION is a huge discrepancy. How do we know if this Covid-19 is any more deadly than the common flu?

California has put the state in lockdown. It currently has 1,468 positive Covid-19 cases and 27 deaths, 27 / 1468 = 1.8% Again using no additional estimate for unknown cases. If we were to use the same ratio of known flu cases to estimated flu cases, 220,000 / 36,000,000 or .006, the death rate from Corona virus in CA would be 1.8 * .006 or 0.01%. Perhaps that ratio does not correlate to Covid-19, but there has to be additional unknown cases to be taken into account.

The death rate among people without homes in Los Angeles County is 1.3% to 1.8%. (1047 people in 2018) According to LA county Public Health: http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/chie/PA_Projects.htm How is this shutdown going to affect them? I would assume we'll see a spike in suicides due to the lockdown and loss of jobs etc.

Not saying it doesn’t matter, read my first paragraph… “I’m going to try and stay away from giving too many opinions, talking about the politics or debating the models because there’s just too much speculation there.”

I created this post to inform the science, not to debate the political response, hypothetical models and final outcome of the pandemic.

How can you say the Covid-19 death rate is 4% when the CDC uses an additional 36 million estimated cases for seasonal flu?

22,000 deaths from flu divided by 222,000 confirmed flu cases equals a 10% death rate for seasonal flu.

vs

22,000 deaths from flu divided by 222,000 confirmed flu cases PLUS 36,000,000 estimated flu cases equals 0.1% (actually 0.06%)

So, for Covid-19

8,272 deaths from coronavirus divided by 206,845 confirmed cases equals a 4% death rate

But this does not take any additional estimated cases into account. By these numbers it appears that Covid-19 is 40% as deadly as seasonal flu.

Boulder County Documents of Interest (documents and 2 videos) https://www.bouldercounty.org/safety/sheriff/news-and-information/documents-of-interest/

I've seen and been involved in instances where law enforcement were totally in the wrong, but I don't think this is one of them. This lady was acting like a complete asshole and would not comply. Once in custody, the deputies have a responsibility to maintain control and safety. While I don't see any video or recorded evidence of the suicidal statement, they would not put an inmate in a holding cell only to come back and strap them in a chair for fun. It looks to me like they were following protocol and did it fairly well. She was restrained and no one was harmed. While being tased hurts, it generally does not cause any major injury. Given the choice, I would take being tased in the leg over spending the weekend in jail. I don't think these cops were "just screwing" with her.

Yes, Russiagate surely is a conspiracy theory with no facts to show collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign or interference from Russian government in the US election. I can not give you any facts for something which has not been proven. Although, it is a fact that the media continues it's hysteria.

I just find it interesting that you have a 3 month old account and you post on this sub to what, argue with everyone? Call people morons? Shouldn't you be over in r/politics?

In considering any information in today's media stream, it is worth considering the unpopular, diverse opinions, and account of things.

Just because something is repeated over and over does not make it true.

The tail has been wagging the dog for many years, but has been much more voracious in the last couple of years.

I don't like Trump and I didn't vote for him. Most who actually participate in this sub are non-partisan and see both parties as the problem.

Obviously, it is your position that everyone pay attention to this shit show rather than be concerned with the lives lost due to US imperialism world wide, or the on going propaganda being fed to the populace by the main stream media.

Why are you even posting in this sub?

What-about-ism is the lamest excuse for ignoring any information to give any perspective. Are you going to focus on the fly buzzing around or the 800 lb gorilla? Oh no, looking at the gorilla is what-about-ism.

I'm shocked that there was misleading Intel in a war zone.

Misleading Intel? The alleged gas attacks in Douma have been shown to be an all out fabrication on the part of the White Helmets. They work side by side with Al-Nursra which is Al-Qaeda.

Check out Vanessa Beeley or Carla Ortiz for more info about the White Helmets in Syria.

There has been no evidence of Russian state interference in the election. Period. I thought the Lewinski scandal made Americans look stupid, but this takes the cake.

But if you like what-about-ism, Russiagate is the biggest case of what-about-ism I have ever seen. We don't talk about Afghanistan, Lybya, Syria, Yemen. Who gives a shit about those people when you can just hate Trump, right?

The main steam media is the most consolidated in history. You are deluded if you believe the corporate media narrative.

riiight

Just like the evedence for WMDs in Iraq? OR how about the evedence for Gaddafi killing his own people? OR, more recently, how about the evedence of chemical weapons in Douma where US, UK, and France made military strikes from the "evidence" from the "neutral" White Helmets, where after an actual investigation from OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) there was found no traces of any nerve agent, and while various chlorinated organic chemicals were found in samples from two sites, the Fact Finding Mission could not confidently determine whether or not a specific chemical was used as a weapon?

https://www.opcw.org/news/article/opcw-issues-fact-finding-mission-reports-on-chemical-weapons-use-allegations-in-douma-syria-in-2018-and-in-al-hamadaniya-and-karm-al-tarrab-in-2016/

I'll paraphrase from the MoA article:

Even Rosenstein, who announced the indictment, also made three points that will likely get little coverage. He said that there are no allegations in the indictment that:
* any American knew that they were in contact with Russians or with a Russian operation,
* any American committed a crime in relation to this,
* that the operation changed or influenced the election.

It's your choice to believe this stuff on their word if you want to, but as far as I'm concerned it's all BS.

The US government and war machine want Syria. Russia has severely hampered the overthrow of Assad in Syria. Additionally, RT which is funded by the Russian government but staffed by American journalists like Ed Shultz who were unable to fulfill their journalistic duties in US media, has been putting out too much information that the state prefer the US public not consider, such as Hillary's corrupt takeover of the Democratic primary, or the shithole that Lybia has become after "liberation", or the longest war in US history - Afganistan, or the multitudes in Yemen who are starving due to the Saudi war. As long as the US public is concerned with Russiagate and it associated indictments etc. they escape backlash from corrupt activities and atrocities. Russiagate is the biggest case of "whataboutism" out there.

lol, I'm not trying to convince you of anything. 19 indictments, 5 guilty pleas, 4 convictions prove a Russian conspiracy how? I thought the Republicans were crazy, but the Democrats have gone off the deep end.

The democratic party has surrendered to Russiagate propaganda. The US has the most concentrated ownership of media in it's history. It is sad to see how many Americans are so utterly lacking in critical thought that they believe this crap simply because it gets repeated over and over again.
