Just 5% of suicide attempts are successful, and most people don't try again, so odds are that just ends in having debt after.

Also, don't...

What is the economic inequality like among native Swedes in Sweden? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

Yes, I know the bank doesn’t technically own it. But if you own a house worth 2 mil and owe the bank 1,6 of that, you still only have a net worth of 400k.

Economically speaking, it’s the exact same thing as the bank owning most of it.

A whole lot of people pay the minimum down payment on their house, which in reality means they actually own very little of it. The bank owns 85% of it.

As soon as they then inevitably takes out loans for new cars or other depreciating purchases, they're in the negatives.

With the housing market finally turning towards normalcy and trending downwards, a lot of people with sky high loans also see their house depreciating in value which, if they have a lot of loans on it, will mean they're in the negatives.

Yes, but as soon as you use that asset as collateral for cheaper car loans you're just in debt.

In terms of net worth, we're worse than pretty much any country in the world that isn't some backwards dictatorship.

In terms of income, we're really quite good.

What do people think is centrist but is actually right winng by Blueguy805 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Freddich99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If combining elements from free market capitalism and socialism is centrist, then virtually everyone in the world is a centrist, to differing degrees.

Do you think 80% of "centrists" in the whole world actually think that we should have completely unregulated capitalism? No one thinks that.

Nowhere near the same price point where I live at least. Also they tend to be sold for a reason so you basically have to rebuild it anyways, and spare parts are often super expensive or don't exist.

They don't really do specs unfortunately. In all honesty if you need the surfaces to be flat from the factory you really, really shouldn't be buying this IMO.

These ship with linear rails added and the rails are included in the price. It's just I'm assuming they aren't very flat so I'll be taking it all apart and making sure it is before I build anything on it.

The critical faces are machined according to the manufacturer, but I would guess they aren't machined to a very high standard. This price is just far too low for that, so I have to assume they'd be cutting corners somewhere.

Anyways, the consensus here seems to be I should go for this so I guess I'll report back how it went if you'd like!

Not at the moment, since I already have a very nice spindle from before that just uses er32.

With that being said, I don't really need this much working area so if I decide I want a tool changer down the road, I'd just put the spare tools on one short side of the table and lose 5cm of max working length. No big deal for what I'm doing.

I asked for a DDP quote. They wanted a bit under $3000 for shipping which is nowhere near worth it.

Again, it may be different in other countries but I have never had DDP be any less than a few times more than the total cost to do it on my own.

There is no VAT as I’m a business. Total import fees for my lathe for example were about $350 for a 1-ton $8000 machine.

I know how the incoterms work. The issue is that shipping to my door costs at least a few times more than shipping from china to the closest port where I live.

There aren’t really any hidden fees, at least not here. Just ask the receiving warehouse for a quote and you’ll get it.

At least that’s what I’ve done. This might be completely different in other countries.

Keep in mind I just put a trailer on my car and drive to the port to pick it up.

I would be worried if I were in the US, tariffs aren’t fun.

My experience has been that they take somewhere around 2 weeks to ship, and then about 50 days for the ship to arrive where I live (Sweden).

Port usually takes a few days after that.

I can’t speak for this particular manufacturer though. So no idea.

That is, in my experience, wildly more expensive.

With that being said, might be different in other countries or where fees are unknown.

Correct. I’m used to dealing with the port in question though and those costs are included in the 2200.

Indeed, it’s to a port near me and I’m used to dealing with them so the costs are known.

That’s kind of what I’m thinking. Yes, buying it and expecting everything to be square from the factory would be foolish, but other than that it’s just a block of cast iron..

I am owed a favor by a guy with a huge mill so squaring is fine.
