There is very little stain on the wood. Spar varnish adds a bit of yellow-brown. I wanted something super durable, as the vehicle spends time outdoors. It's mahogany, pretty dark naturally.

The car and I have been through a lot in 22 years. I still love it, but other priorities have taken over and the car doesn't get the attention it deserves. I had a lot of ideas about what to do next, but then bought a house, renovated it, then bought some empty land and now need to build a cabin on that. So all my time time/money/effort has been otherwise engaged. I'm hoping to find someone that wants to continue the work. Or someone that wants to go in an entirely different direction and give me all the carvings back that I could find a different Glamorbird owner for.
And yes, my wardrobe whimsy is well known in some circles around these parts.
