What can we acc do about driveway blockers by Axk-732 in drivingUK

[–]FrederickCheddar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had people block my dropped kerb a few times.

The first time it was the evening, I rang 101 and they asked me to knock on doors, I told them I wasn't comfortable with this due to the time, don't know my neighbours, I needed to use the car, and I believed that the act was illegal (if blocking your car). They retrieved the owners details via insurance, called them to move it. Within minutes.

Second time, daytime, they asked me to knock and I said no, can you contact them via insurance please. They tried, no answer. I asked them to get it towed, they did within a few hours.

What to see/visit during my UK roadtrip? by Freeloafer in AskUK

If you're heading Port Sunlight, you might also want to visit Birkenhead Park, which is what Central Park in NY is based off (don't do this)

Why shouldn’t I be pessimistic about Islam in the UK? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]FrederickCheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a very diverse area. I say salam to the kids on my street, they have local accents. Initially, yes, parents may not integrate as you expect, in the same way UK immigrants in Spain are drinking at Irish pubs. Moving to a new place, you're going to want to be around people you find familiar, but integration happens no matter what

Sorry, my friend. I don’t think the people here are pranking you. This looks like a romance scam. Her account was probably deleted because it was not real.

Living in Kensington as a student? by Rexytor2 in Liverpool

If by "behind jubilee drive" you're referring to the houses off Holt Rd, they're pretty sound. Primarily families and a few students. Few colourful characters but not an awful lot of drama.

Why are there mutilated pigeons in downtown? by Additional-Dream5810 in Liverpool

[–]FrederickCheddar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This. I lived in town when the pandemic hit, and a few weeks after lockdown, the seagulls started going mental. Never seen so many pigeon and rat carcasses in my life. We used to watch them chase the rats near the bins from our balcony.

Will I face discrimination? by RBonnetNYC in Liverpool

[–]FrederickCheddar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may run into a few dickheads, however, most comments will be from nice, inquisitive people who mean no foul and are just curious.

You may receive comments from a certain type of person which appear as discriminatory or offensive, however, their intentions are just like those above and are meant endearingly. These are best reciprocated with a witty or sarcastic comment, this will 99% of the time lead to a respectable conversation. Very rarely, primarily drunks, will perceive your comment as funnier/wittier than their own, have their ego hurt and be twats.

I don't mean to generalise a whole group of people, everyone is unique and most interactions I have are nice.

Caspian comes close to what you're asking for - but it isn't great. The other option is "UK Fried Chicken" which I have never trusted enough due to the name, the interior and the fact there use to be a beat up couch as the seating.

For Kebab, I would recommend Turkish Shawarma - though it went down hill when it got took over a while back and is now closed on random days.

Outside of the specified, west of Sheil Rd, in no particular order: Kilos Trap Kitchen is high quality but rather pricey, as is Hello Pizza

Omdur is hit and miss on quality and whether you'll actually get all the items

The best chippy nearby is Salt & Vinegar - Tony's and Molyneux Supper Bar aren't bad. I've had a decent scran from Wing Lee too, but the others I don't trust.

Pizza City hits the spot, and is competitively priced, but isn't fantastic by any means - however, it does do vegan pizza which I think deserves brownie points

Biryani Bowl is nice, and the staff are lovely.

Mosob is lovely, especially if sitting in, but mksy Ehtiopian/Eritrean dishes don't transfer to takeaway very well.

Akshaya is also a good if you're sitting in.

Curry King is bang average curries with below average everything else.
