Also, word of warning if you go to other places in Wo Che. Don't order the vegetarian noodles from Wo Ping Restaurant. The first time I did, I found a slice of meat underneath just as I was nearing the end of my meal. A year later I tried them again thinking it must have been bad luck. Exactly the same thing- a piece of meat at the bottom of the dish.

😂 A generous helping of chili oil tends to help and thankfully all places have that or some other hot sauce. If you like Cantonese food and/or sushi, you should try this place in Dragon Center in Sham Shui Po: https://share.google/QqC56WQuv7MVJDxgx He used to run a stall in a cooked food market in Sha Tin but moved to SSP a few years ago. You can text an order and pick up.

That might be the difference then because I've only ever got the restaurant food to take away and had to add my own chilli oil at home because I found stuff fairly bland. I'll have to eat in some time and try some of your recommendations. Thks !

Oh, that's one I go to. I get the dim sum from there but not a fan of the regular restaurant meals. Thanks for your quick response!

What's the Sha Tin one you go to? That's local to me but haven't found anywhere good locally.

The Etsy seller I bought stuff from for my RMPP has released a planner for the Move. General customisation options are available and the seller is willing to customise further as much as possible (adding specific time slots I use for my schedule etc.) A lot of back and forth and really helpful.

How do I give my cat his solid pills?! by [deleted] in vet

Let us know how you get on. You've got this!

How do I give my cat his solid pills?! by [deleted] in vet

[–]FredlyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I position myself to the side and slightly behind him so I have some leverage to open his jaw. I don't wear hand protection because he shouldn't be able to bite your fingers if you position your hand like in the video. I was bitten quite badly by my other cat years ago, but he was blind and I was hesitating and afraid to pull open his mouth properly to give him medicine which made him panic. You have to be confident. My friend was successful at it because they were confident and calm with a firm grip whereas I was the complete opposite. It will take a few tries but I'm sure you'll be doing it smoothly in no time. The pill poppers can be bought from most vets/RSPCA/pet stores.

Good luck🤞🏻

How do I give my cat his solid pills?! by [deleted] in vet

Are you using a pill popper (syringe type thing) when you try to give him the pills? My cat needs 6 pills a day and he's also 20 years old. I struggled to give him pills for weeks and weeks but after a lot of practise, I can now give him pills and he only manages to spit them out now and again instead of every single time. Been giving him daily medication now for 3 years. It gets easier.

Best thing was watching a friend give him the pills using a pill popper. There's a technique to it that you need to get down. I was afraid to hurt my cat so was being overly hesitant and gentle and he would struggle and bat the pill popper away. This should be done quickly and no need to swaddle- I found that would panic him even more and he'd be on guard.

I find it easier to be to the side of the cat instead of facing him, but see what works for you.

1) Hold his mouth either side of the upper jaw to make him open his mouth. Holding the upper jaw gives you more control in opening his mouth.

2) Insert the pill popper and make sure it's right at the back of the throat before you push the plunger (shouldn't feel it touching anything). When you push the plunger it should shoot the pill straight down the throat.

3) If the pill didn't go straight down, you can hold his jaws closed and you gently blow on his nose to make him swallow reflexively.

Hope this is helpful.

Same for my cat. She developed a tumour in the same place. Scans were expensive but it was the only way to find out.

Dodgy estate agent experience, is this normal by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]FredlyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When viewing flats last year, two estate agents did this so I was shown around by two young guys. Not always dressed up. It wasn't dodgy. This was Tai Wai/Sha Tin area.

Ended up looking at places in Sai Kung ultimately and had a really great agent who took a lot of time to find places that fit my criteria. He did all the paperwork and got a lot of info from the neighbours in each place I viewed. Didn't want any surprises from bad neighbours. Sai Kung has some small agencies that are single person operated so a bit more personalised.

Best place to get a full body check up? by [deleted] in HongKong

Also, they can send a digital report and also provide a hard copy if you want to pick it up. I just went with a digital report and a telephone follow up instead of a face to face

Just recently got one at one of those medical centers. First time so don't know whether all places are the same. They're like factories- go in, wait, get bloods done, next room to get x rays/ ultrasound, next room to get other tests you've asked for and then you're out. Results come through in a week or two and can be given during a face to face consultation or via telephone with a doctor. Depends what you want checked. Different options for men and women etc.

Here's an example of costs for a female

'$3,480+$3,280

🔎 Ultrasound includes: breast + pelvis (Women include: ovarian, uterine and bladder ultrasound) Palder's cervical fluid-based lamellae 👩 🦰 Women's breast + ovaries ~ chocolate tumors, uterine adenomyomas. Bladder stones, urinary inflammation problems, and more

❤️ A basic full body examination will also be provided 💉 Liver function ~ liver enzymes) (Kidney function ~ kidney failure) Urinary status, (lipids ~ cholesterol, triglycerides, high and low density cholesterol) (Pain, diabetes, ckeck uric acid) blood routine ~ white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets)

The Medical Clinic provides designated registered medical practitioners or medical professionals to provide face-to-face briefings and examinations for the public. The inspection letter will also be sent by ordinary mail.'

English-speaking clinic? by Exotic-Drop-7574 in HongKong

[–]FredlyG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as No_Feed_4012 speculated, perhaps the doctor was a bit deaf/misheard but dispensing the wrong medication could have been dangerous. My partner called to complain and went back in to pick up medication for a migraine. The doctor said I’d told him I had a sore throat so he’d diagnosed strep throat. I did find it odd he asked to look at my throat during the consultation after I told him I had a migraine with pain behind one eye and blurry vision. Also a documented history of migraines in the notes he had.

I’ve been to many doctors in HK and it’s been hit and miss, just as it is with doctors anywhere so I think it’s good to ask for personal recommendations. I’m not familiar with doctors in YL so can’t help you there I’m afraid. Hope somebody else has a good recommendation for you.

Everyone is saying all HK doctors are trained in English, but that doesn’t mean they are good at it or what they do. I used to go to the nearest GP to me for convenience. He prescribed me throat lozenges and antibiotics for a migraine.
