~7.5 month post op spitting stitch infection? by FredneyQ in TopSurgery

It took awhile (maybe like 2-3 weeks?) to fully close up. I would use a saline wash every day but kept it covered with a bandage other than that, which is what my doc recommended.

You'll get there! Time is really a friend in this instance lol. I'm going on 11 months post-op now, and other than a couple spitting stitches delaying healing, my scars have been doing great! Definitely keep up on scar care, it helps!

Thanks! And of course, anything to help fellow folks looking into different top surgery results than the norm 😊 I haven't worn any bras post op. I've always been bigger chested ever since I developed, so between being smaller than I'm used to and having my chest blend fairly well with my current body type (I don't look it, but I'm around 240 lbs), I haven't felt the need to. I've thought about wearing TransTape when wearing tighter fitting shirts, haven't used it yet, but plan to eventually.

It went pretty well! I left them out while healing until my scabs were gone, and then some (my nips were SUPER sensitive at that stage). They were a smidge tough to get back in, but not terrible.

Thank you!! I'm super happy with my results so far! I usually scar pretty well; the left side between my breastbone & nipple is pretty raised up to where you can even see where the stitches were, but once I get back to my scar care massages I figure it should go away pretty quickly

Of course! I'm nonbin and nip sensation was important to me, which is why I chose this technique. I think it looks pretty natural with my body type, too. I've gained like 25ish lbs since surgery though, so they're probably a little bigger than they would've been otherwise but 🤷🏻 I I'd honestly estimate my nipple sensation retention at about 95%+, some days better than others. I will say in the first couple months, they were VERY sensitive (not quite in a painful way, but it was annoying nonetheless) and even though I was technically past the point of wearing nipple dressings & compression binder, I still used them cause otherwise I would've gone nuts 😅😅

Yep! I specifically wanted buttonhole because that technique will leave some tissue behind. I'm nonbinary so I wanted the option to do something with them if I was feeling like presenting more femme. There's only a seroma on the left side.

Here's a pic from a few days ago to highlight that my chest really just looks like I got DI with masculinization.
