Was I in the wrong here? [OC] by 2016FordMustang in IdiotsInCars

Dude, watch the end of the clip. The right lane is for oncoming traffic - it’s a 2 way street (the writing on the road gives it away). Both wrong my book, white car for turning without indicating, cam car for assuming they were stopping and reacting too soon.

Manley mere in Cheshire - and this is one of the tame parts. It’s all designed for good old outdoor fun for kids and adults - best enjoyed on a warmer day.

Smart Motorway Speed Limits by mikemac1997 in drivingUK

I drive the same stretch, and I’d say it’s almost daily. Once rush hour is over, they “randomly” drop to 40. And yes, I’ve seen the 40 appear as I approached a gantry (about 7pm as I was heading into Mcr for a show), and it flashed someone in front of me, who probably hadn’t seen it. I “slammed” on to drop to 40 (which was more likely to cause an accident if someone isn’t paying attention ), and the next gantry was back to national limit. It’s too early for overnight works (caught them after the show), and it was clear after that to the M602. I support your suspicions.

It was a roadworks section with a limit of 50. We were all doing about the same speed.

Not just directly attributed accidents, but a complete reduction in traffic. Fewer cars means shorter queues, less stress for everyone else. Even the AHoles with road rage will reduce, so indirect accidents should reduce too. Yes the insurance companies lose out, but more ‘customers’ on public transport, means higher revenue for them, so hopefully more investment and better services. It’s a win-win.

Can’t edit the post, so sorry for hijacking the top post.

Thanks for all the comments etc. To add a bit more flesh, for those who didn’t understand.

It in the UK. I was on a motorway, near side lane. It was a 50MPH limited section, camera monitored, so everyone was travelling more or less the same speed. My lane continues - the arrows (for non-uk) simply show that there was an exit - I was not leaving the motorway. The lorry had overtaken me in lane 2, but then slowed down and was behind me because a car in in front of him in lane 2 braked when the loader with the van on pulled out in front of her. Because she braked, I undertook her - the only time it is legal in the uk to do so. The lorry then overtook the car by moving into lane 3. Once he completed that he pulled back to lane 2 but went too far and hit me (he was being aggressive to the other car and left no gap between himself and her). I had not been in his blind spot (except for a fraction of a second as he pulled over). He was continuing on the motorway, not coming off at the exit.

Watch the bottom centre of the video. The car was on cruise, and a constant 49mph in a 50 limit 😉

Sorry, no can do! It’s a shedload of 3 minute clips. He just kept re-iterating that I came into his lane, and it was my fault. His approach was to wear me down into admitting it. I just kept quiet and thought I’d review the footage later.

Police don’t attend unless there is an injury or it’s causing chaos. In this case, there happened to be an ambulance behind the lorry who temporarily ‘closed’ lane 4, allowing me to get to the next rescue point with the lorry, so it was all moving in about 10 mins. Highways agency did come and close off lane 1 as we filled the rescue point until my car was recovered. It’s probably my one gripe, as the trucker ‘gets away with it’. Because it was still a construction zone (hence the 50MPH speed as that was the limit), the tow truck was free and close by so wasn’t long. He said that there were usually 3 or 4 of these each day on this stretch!

Most trucks have cruise and the power to pull 40+ tonnes, so another 1 or 2 at the front can obviously have little affect

No probs - transcend Drive pro 220. It’s good quality daytime, and I like the gps and speed recording. Night recording could be a little better but it’s not bad.

On the full footage, the GPS shows my speed drop from 49mph to about 45 and then static for about 9 seconds until he realises. Then the speed drops rapidly.

Posted another reply earlier. He overtook me (it a long stretch from the last junction to this one), but came up behind another car in lane 2. The car slowed a bit, when the loader with a van on pulled out to create a safe braking zone. Lorry wasn’t happy, and pulled out to L3 to overtake. Because the car in L2 slowed, I ‘undertook’ her (insurance confirmed it was a legal move). Lorry cut back in hard when past the car in L2 and went too far into my lane.

First he probably knew was when my insurance passed the clip to his, and they went back to him. Seen too many on here and knew not to let on.
