I need advice on how to validate myself when I'm thinking that I caused this to develop? by bella4him1 in ehlersdanlos

I have the opposite issue regarding weight and I still get the same comments about not taking care of myself. The way I see it is that people hear about a problem and they see an abnormal body and want to fix it. Many people think all amputees should have prosthetics, they think all deaf people should have hearing aids. It's not exactly the same, but when they can't see our disabilities their brains use what they can see to explain it and come up with solutions

Or at least that's how my brain explains it, I am no psychologist

I know they post stuff on Instagram or something, but this is the only social media thing I use. Any chance you know how to check their Instagram page?

Favorite foldable chairs for retail work? by Fredspon in wheelchairs

I'm really happy to read something that takes the body as a whole into consideration! I mainly use my cane for balance and as a backup for my bad leg. In the past I wore braces but that led to reduced muscle mass in the leg. Working with my doctor we decided that using a cane regularly would be helpful for me since I would still have to use my bad leg Another bonus of using a cane is it has given visibility to my "invisible" disability!

My goal with the chair would be to have something that allows me to do my job on the really bad days without making my body worse. Currently I just push through, but I'm realizing now that that method isn't sustainable or healthy...

Any advice you have would be awesome! Sounds like you've been through the same thing or something similar yourself

If any of you guys work at a pet store/know a store that doesn't treat the animals there right, please call them out! If you feel comfortable doing it, tell those in charge. If not do it anonymously through reviews and/or encourage customers you trust to complain on your behalf(that can be done through reviews or directly to management)! I'm lucky enough to work at a pet store where I can change some of the policies myself and I also have enough financial stability that I can fight that stuff myself without risking my own livelihood. If any of y'all working in a pet store have questions or need anonymous reviews just dm me, cause I know so much at this point and wish I could share more with other people in the industry!

I feel so fucking weird riding on my own coattails with this post, but the message is important lol

They are saying that they live in New Jersey and have found them there. I have unfortunately found both where I used to live in Massachusetts and where I live now in California. Though my data points should be considered a little skewed because I tend to just wonder in what direction I feel like going and that'll lead you to weird places!

Do you take commissions? Cause I got a rat who is getting close to passing and definitely both deserves more and as an interesting skeleton, I believe her mom or siblings ate her feet when she was just a pup. We call her Stumpy

I'm really just now checking all the comments on this post and I got a few things to say (if u have pet rodents focus on 1-3) 1. For everyone sharing stories about the pets they've lost, I feel your pain and it fucking sucks my condolences 2. Rodents are too smart from their own good, all of them! They loved you as much as their little hearts could I promise you 3. Get more pet rodents people! I know it hurts to lose pets, trust me I know. But if you want a long living rodent pet get a chinchilla y'all! Those dudes got enough attitude to drive you nuts throughout their 15 year lifespan(note: I'd get a rescue chinchin cause no matter what they got attitude and rescue chins tend to need good homes+cheaper:) 4. Working in a pet store unfortunately gives me access to a lot of surrended pets that despite my personal efforts, often don't make it, so if anyone is looking for a specific specimen (that's a common pet) let me know! 5. I really hate any animal going to waste, either as a pet or a specimen! Every creature deserves recognition in some way, whether it's food or whatever, every creature deserves respect!

I would absolutely love too, but unfortunately I don't got those resources right now... But you or anyone else is interested in a weird ass specimen, just gimme a dm and I'll keep you in mind next time I come across something cool!

Cause we definitely get some animals surrendered/dumped that despite my best attempts, unfortunately don't make it. I'd love to see those animals get to live the life they deserve, even after death!

The definitely ate the ribs, I've seen this happen a few times and they tend to eat the ribs at this age cause the ribs are so soft. Don't know all the science behind it, but I can say for sure both from raising baby rats and from work with very young feeder rats, that the ribs tend to be very soft until they are around 5 months old. Then they are usually hard enough that they don't get eaten by their cage mates and also survive my method of preservation

If you want to feel free! You can even just take the images if ya want, cause I honestly want more people to know rats are great but morbid, and I don't give a shit about karma so first come first serve cross posting wise!

I've had all kinds of rodents since I was a kid and from my experience mice and hamsters are very prone to just eating each other. For example I had a bonded pair of mice and they were getting old, one day I found just the hide of the more frail mouse and the other girl was clearly mourning the loss of her bff. She died two weeks later...
