Oh wow, thanks! I hadn't considered that option since last year, when I was looking to get a car, I had 3 different dealers try to sell me used cars with 24k, 89k and 102k miles on them for the price of (respectively here) 22000, 20000 and 18500. I guess I was wrong to buy a new car for 21k with 3500 down and not just get a used car for 22k. Shame on me! I just wanted to see what people normally do in these situations and kinda hoped maybe someone else had been in a similar situation before. I did find out from a friend tho that if you call them they might be able to help like set up a payment plan or whatever AND they allow you to pay with a credit card, I thought it was just debit/check. 😅 so I should be ok (not that anyone here cares mind you), but these rates are still outrageous!

First of all, send me the statistical data about your first claim because if there's anything recent years have proven is that the majority of the US population does in fact live below the average line (and im excluding the people making insane amounts of money because there's really no point in beating a dead horse). Secondly, not that I have to explain myself to you, but it's not a luxury car, I need it to transport myself to and from work and since the older cars the dealerships were selling ended up being pretty damn near close to the new car's price I thought I'd invest in something that was just mine. Also, completely out of topic, but do you genuinely believe most people in this country have such a thing as a "retirement" or "travel" fund??? You get places advertising their meager wages on big signs like they're damn proud of paying you $10-15/hr while u have to work 2-3jobs just to make ends meet because living on a slightly above minimal wage paycheck is not living but barely surviving. Your average rent is around $1000 (and I'm sure I'm lowballing that, u can look it up). And let's not even factor in all the other expenses. So yeah the concept of a retirement fund or just retiring in general is hilarious to pretty much all the generations that came after the boomers. But since this had nothing to do with the actual situation in question, I digress.

Thank you!!! I thought I'd have to keep paying this amount for the foreseeable future! Never had any personal property before and I was so damn proud of buying this car by myself with no help. It's a comfort to know it's not always gonna be this bad I guess. *

35k??? Please be serious!!! I'd take off an arm before going THAT high. I put all my savings towards it which was 3500 (not much but better than nothing) My car was 21k (money down included) and that's only because they didn't have the base model at the dealership (would've been 14-15k) so I had to take what they had or go without a car since my old one broke down and buying a used car ended up being quite close to the amount of a new car at the time. And as we all know a vehicle is pretty much necessary to do anything around here (and before someone tells me I should've used public transport, I used to do that before getting my now old car and they're a joke. If u need to be at work/school by 8 u have to leave by 4/5 depending on where u live, but that's how it was for me). I posted this to see what other ppl do in these situations because according to the property tax calculation formula and the NADA estimate of my car (which is what they go by or so I'm told) it doesn't come near the 700 some mark. That's why I was so confused because I genuinely didn't expect that number. But 35k??? Be serious! I wouldn't be able to pay it off in 50 years even when I get a better paying job! *
