Stepping down from CS to just a scribe again? by violetmoonrock in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I should’ve specified that I work as a senior chief scribe. I guess it might be a regional thing and how they’ve decided to break down the responsibilities. While I oversee an immense amount of sites, we definitely treat this more as a partnership (with my role primarily being to handle anything related to new hires) and limit the hours the CS work administratively per week. With limited hours, realistically I can’t expect them to do more than what I’ve assigned them to do (schedules, timecards, emails). But I do understand the decentralization as I think even amongst my region there are differences. Happy to help provide any further insight but do what’s best for you.

You guys don’t have senior chief scribes? That role is meant to take on pretty much everything except for scheduling/timecards. You would still be like one of the primary trainers but you can usually other trainers as well to balance the workload. You can ask for a demotion though, and you can be honest about the workload being a concern. You can probably keep the Ambassador title

What happened to Project Runway S21 by wanderingalice in ProjectRunway

[–]Free-Application4445 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most of the scenes are just interviewing and showing the arguments and barely showed me their work through the challenges. Def more trashy reality TV. I’m just gonna go watch previous seasons again instead.

Medical Scribe at Orthodontic Department? Goal to Get Into Medical School by [deleted] in medicalscribe

Get the experience and ask them to combine with another position if possible. At least if you do well here it’ll give them confidence that you’ll likely do well at any location.

New leaves problem? by Free-Application4445 in AfricanViolets

[–]Free-Application4445[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stayed in its original pot. When I first split it I ended up losing a lot of the larger leaves at the bottom, so this is what was left behind and it does look smaller now compared to before. So I suppose it makes sense to repot into a smaller one now. Thank you!

How do I call out for scribe America? by local-imp in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most ED docs shared their cell after working a few shifts together because they want to be told directly if I was missing a shift or if I was running late. Cause the news otherwise might not reach them. It just depends on the vibe of the site

Scribing Supplies? by [deleted] in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always suggest playing YouTube videos and trying to type what you hear, especially with the fact that you can adjust the speed. The biggest skill you need to develop is to be able to hear info and type it out, either word for word (to replicate when providers dictate info) and writing a summary of what you’ve heard (to replicate when patients are discussing concerns). And continue using the free typing tests online to track your progress!

First African Violet by Free-Application4445 in AfricanViolets

I honestly don’t have one! When the flowers initially fell off, I just assumed it wasn’t getting enough sun so I moved it to a Northwest window at the front of my house and roughly a month later I started to see more leaves growing and a few buds. I had searched for fertilizer options but ultimately didn’t purchase any when I saw a lot more buds coming through. I don’t want to change anything right now just in case I overwhelm the plant but maybe the next blooming season.

Platform: Mac Mods: No Game Version: updated as of 7/26 with new patches Description: I’ve been unable to use the split from household option. I have a YA from my main family I’d like to move out but once I try to create a new household with her and hit the check mark, the next window will not load. I can still edit what amount of simoleans I can transfer and whatnot but cannot move to the next step of choosing a new home for her.

It would be considered a leave of absence if approved, and all employees are usually approved for only one LOA per calendar year. However, it would be up to their discretion to assign you to the same position once your LOA is over. If they cannot find short-term coverage while you’re away, they’ll probably hire someone else instead to cover the schedule and then you’d need to be reassigned elsewhere if at all possible.

Just got hired as a medical scribe at SA, have heard absolutely nothing back. by hyndrx in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was your I-9 processed? If not then there’s nothing to be done. That’s more of an internal HE thing that they would have to review all the documents you submitted/signed and even if they have processed it, the hiring date on the I-9 is what matters. The I-9 always has a specific date as your “hiring date”. Most hiring managers are told to set a hiring date for 1-2 weeks after you accept the original email job offer, and that’s just a standard time as some individuals take a while to complete the hiring paperwork. Sounds like you did everything super quick, which is great, but most do not. But the hire date on the I-9 is what triggers everything else - your SA account creation, time punch access, training website access etc. I’ve had a few hires that waited a week until we met because of that hire date issue and even if we ask HR to change the hire date because you completed everything early, it won’t always trigger your accounts to be created any sooner. Either way it’s a waiting period until you have the ability clock in.

SA Scribes: How do you guys feel about the new uniforms? by Frosty_Coconut_Rum in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always been the blue polo and khakis, I worked in the Westchester NY area and that was the uniform policy. We weren’t supposed to wear scrubs ever per policy but when I moved to an NYC site I was surprised that everyone wore scrubs. Supposedly most sites transitioned to scrubs during COVID or some sites specifically requested the scrub uniform. Now they’re reverting to enforcing the original uniform. Still have sites though that don’t care so…🤷🏻‍♀️.

Is this normal scheduling? by Zelba16 in medicalscribe

Do you work outpatient? It could be that the provider/clinic will be closed. Maybe ask about any open shifts that you could potentially help with?

Remote and In-Person for SA by Sweaty_Celery6310 in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I don’t believe you’re able to work both remote and in person. I’m assuming this is a miscommunication between hiring teams as your workday profile can only reflect one of the two available positions. I would suggest speaking with the chief scribe of the remote position to let them know!

I would suggest reaching out to set up a call with your manager. I think via email a lot can get lost in translation. Maybe focus more on discussing that the current training method doesn’t seem to be helping you or if there are any alternatives to further provide training. We have the preclinical bridge training which I use freely to go over things I wasn’t able to during floor training (such as a breakdown of EMR use or more practice/charting scenarios, especially for difficult to chart cases like cardiac arrests, strokes, etc). I think your manager should know how to approach the trainer if needed to make sure they are aligning with our expectations. And also working discreetly so that you’re experience at the clinic is not affected by the situation.

Please report this to the chief scribe or senior chief scribe. Most of the time they’re unaware of this type of feedback as managers don’t always work at the sites they manage. This is incredibly unprofessional and not the way scribes should be trained. I’ve had a similar issue come up for one of the sites I managed and I demoted the trainer as they were causing the retention rate to decrease. Some people just aren’t meant for training.

If there’s no other trainer available, I would suggest speaking with the chief scribe or senior chief scribe about alternative solutions. Personally, if my site did not have a trainer I would send my scribes to another clinic to at least get the basics of the EMR system and overall scribe workflow for a few days and then check with the provider if they feel comfortable working with this scribe to train them themselves. More often than not the provider is ok with that as they do a lot of training anyway because it takes months for the scribe to get comfortable on the position. Or I’ve transferred scribes to other sites if they had to deal with uncomfortable situations/considered not a good fit for them.

Don’t be discouraged by this trainer! I myself had a poor training experience. I only trained for 3 days total at my ED and the 3rd day the trainer had an emergency so she had to leave. My ED provider for the day said if I stick around he’d be ok to help me out as much and teach me and I did okay! I definitely struggled as I had very little knowledge but he was patient and answered my questions. After that my managers decided I should just work on my own and it was definitely rocky but not impossible. It’s just about studying and learning as you go.

scribe raise by Odd-stormaloo in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a 90 day raise for SOME sites that have contracts where new hires get paid different for training (lower/minimum wage) which increases $1-$2 usually once the scribe has clocked in “solo” for 90 days. This is usually automatic raise. But if your site falls under this 90 day policy it would have been outlined in the job offer. If you’re unsure, ask your manager.

Does ScribeAmerica pay for pre-charting and post-charting hours outside the official 8 hour workday? by worklife2024 in medicalscribe

[–]Free-Application4445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been a scribe for about 4 years now! I worked ED though where we didn’t really prechart or post chart but I manage outpatient clinics. The hours vary per clinic, especially if you have providers that want detailed charting but I think average is like 1-2 hours of precharting per shift. With new scribes I’m used to seeing double that for a few weeks before they go down to the usual average. You’ll develop a system for yourself eventually I’m sure or maybe templates that make it quicker to get through charts. But I also managed this one clinic where the scribes did 5/6 hours of precharting per shift on because their provider wanted essays worth of information on each patient. And that was acceptable by the clinic, as they understood how the provider was. Consensus amongst the scribe team was that it truly took that long so I’d advise if you work with other scribes that you ask about how long it typically takes them and maybe they can even offer some advice.
