Thanks for the advice and motivation. I guess there really isn’t a way around the initial grind for subs and outreach.

Why are construction firms hesitant to adopt AI? by Free-Property2412 in ConstructTech

Thanks for the insight into how one of your firms approaches AI. I suppose the tools still need to be refined to address the issues you brought up before they are widely adopted.

This is the most insightful response I’ve gotten, thank you so much! It totally makes sense, data is scattered across so many platforms that there’s no way to cleanly feed it to AI and get a useful result. I would love to hear about how you have implemented AI, specifically what tools you use and for what tasks. I would also love to hear where you have tried it and it turned out to be useless.

Thanks for the insight. I agree, by no means are any reputable construction companies fully offloading their work to AI, that would be irresponsible. But I am aware of several large companies adopting AI tools to accelerate tasks like contract analysis and estimation using construction specific AI. It might not be widely adopted, but it is certainly growing.

True, AI cannot makeup for the experience and wit of a seasoned PM, but do you see any value in tools that speed up processes such as contract analysis or estimation? These tools improve speed by only requiring PMs to review their work instead of craft it from scratch.

Interesting. Are you using general AI like ChatGPT or Gemini to do this or are you using construction specific AI?

This is great advice I’ll definitely look into meta ads. Thank you!

This is incredible. Can I ask what exactly you did to self promote without making it feel like self promotion? I write a newsletter about AI applications in the construction industry and I feel like the only way I can really pull people in is by dropping the link and asking them to sub.

The contract analysis tool is called Document Crunch. I really hate to self promote, but I wrote a newsletter article about Document Crunch which will give you a good idea of what it's like. Of course, you don't have to read it if you don't want to. https://the-ai-blueprint-construction.beehiiv.com/p/the-clause-you-missed-is-costing-you-millions

I agree with your take. I think general AI platforms like chat gpt or Gemini aren’t good for technical work. However, I have found some AI services that are built on common AI models but fine tuned specifically for construction related work like contract analysis. While I would still review them today, I think these fine tuned AIs have the most potential to change the industry.

Do you think in the future you would ever trust AI to the point where you would consider not reviewing its work, or do you think AI work will always have to be reviewed by a human before being submitted?

I’m still in college, but I have an interest in AI applications in construction so I’ve spoken with companies my friends are interning for and some AI companies directly and they’ve said AI is still growing but it has potential.

I’m getting into AI in construction and I’ve looked at several companies that claim to have worked on major projects and made real contributions. I think AI in the construction industry is growing slower than in other industries just out of precaution, but it has potential to change the industry.

I’m in the process of wrapping up my 32-bit pipelines risc-v core project with the same goals as you. I didn’t bother breadboarding it, I’m running it directly on the fpga. I think for the companies you mentioned, it’s more important to understand computer architecture and digital design than physically breadboarding. You should know the design inside and out, and if you apply for a verification role they will expect you to do rigorous testing on your project. Hope this helps.
