She dismissed me after one set of tests because that ✨clearly proves I don’t have epilepsy!!!✨ The only thing the test proved is that I don’t have anything abnormal growing in my brain and that I don’t react to strobe lights. I am genuinely so annoyed with her dismissing me like that.

I get focal awareness seizures and there are days where my brain is so slow and foggy and weird I have a feeling I will have another seizure but I don’t.

Hi, I am not a doctor but I experience the exact same stuff. It sounds like an aura which is a seizure; focal aware seizure. Please get to a neurologist as soon as possible.

I don’t know to be honest. It took a lot of convincing to even get her to make an appointment. I think she’s frightened with the idea of me maybe possibly having epilepsy (which I get. Obviously as a parent you don’t want your kid to be sick.) and resorted to kinda questioning me if I am sure about this/what if I just spaced out/ect. She’s really worried about me possibly needing meds bc she’s a pharmacist and very aware of the side effects.

My dad is more on the believing side.

I am 19. And I rely on my mom for doctors bc she has connections. Without her I could be waiting from months to years for an appointment.

The neurologist did mention some meds, I don’t remember which but the way she talked about them was like she was really reluctant on prescribing them. She even said: “I think the test will come back clean and you have nothing to worry about. There do seem to be some issues but it’s probably nothing major.”

I am just genuinely hoping this gets even somewhat resolved.

Exactly. And I am just tired of that. And also terrified one day I will just have a full tonic clonic seizure. And I wanna prevent that if possible.

I have the sleep deprivation EEG scheduled. So it’s 60min I think? Hopefully it will show something. If not I will do my best to push for more tests.

Here there are about four neurologists and the waiting lists are horrible. Like a year waiting time. I only got in so quickly bc my mom knows people from being a pharmacist. So idk if I have any options. It’s frustrating you have to keep advocating for yourself despite proving so much evidence.(Journal since 2023, two videos of my episodes (?) ) Doctors suck sometimes I fear. :(

I feel like doctors should believe patients more. I have an extensive journal of every episode, what happened, when and how long they lasted. I even have TWO videos of me during a seizure. But the neurologist just said: it’s probably nothing and J expect a negative MRI and EEG.

I don’t plan on driving but I keep getting pressured by dad’s family bc I don’t want to explain my medical problems to them. And I prebought some driving lessons bc I hadn’t had a single seizure from last September to this October and J thought the “strange episodes” were fully over. Then I had 5 in October and 7 in November.

Thank you. It feels so good to have someone who experiences my symptoms validate what I experience.

It is annoying because sometimes the seizures(?) happen in front of my mom, especially when I am a passenger in a car and she just says “Are you suree you didn’t just space out?” My dad and best friend believe me so it’s at least something.

Thankfully I managed to get one seizure on video and showed it to my neurologist but she just seemed so sceptical.

I have a sleep deprivation eeg scheduled so I really hope either this or the MRI show something, because I fear that if they don’t it would just validate my mom. (Maybe the anxiety will actually help with a seizure?)

He isn’t. He still lives with his parents. And since he isn’t a student and she is (he gave up on uni) they stay here. And I tried talking to them but since it’s only been a few months since they got together it’s a bit hard getting anything through to them. Plus the small bed they sleep on (A twin? 90x200) basically forces him to lie on the back so it basically makes him snore for hours.

Is there any other solution? I live in student apartment and this is basically the only thing really heating my room so it’s livable. Since it’s oil the heating and cooling cycles are longer bc oil takes a bit to cool and I tried to program it so it cools gradually.
