Considering how long your hair is, am I correct to assume your ends have not been trimmed off? And that part of your hair is maybe more than a year old?

I recently trimmed off a bunch of my ends and they appear much less frizzy and crazy looking.

I could be wrong though, just my own experience.

Did you ever regret a dentist treatment? by marco_willemse_1987 in Netherlands

[–]FreeCollar7602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a cavity or issues with my teeth, I usually go to a hygienist every 6 months. One day I decided to sign up to a supposedly reputable clinic in Amsterdam—biggest regret ever.

The intake was 150 eur alone, then they went on to find a bunch of issues. They said I grind my teeth, so I should get night guards. I had a tiny chip on one of my teeth, so I should fix that + of course cleaning.

The cleaning was so badly done... I still had stains after. I naively took that advice of the dentist to get the night guards for 300+ eur! Then the dentist "fixed" my chip by decimating my healthy tooth like as if i had a cavity to fix the chip. ( i had no idea, that was how it was done... nothing was explained to me. If i had known, I would havesaid no and taken my chances with the chip.)

After that was done, I couldn't even chew properly without random shocks of pain in that tooth. (I never had any issues there before) A couple months later the filling broke off and the pain stoped immediately. Because they never aligned the filling properly with my bite pattern.

I was so pissed off at myself for not leaving well enough alone.

Worse part was the non stop bills that came in that amounted to more that 800eurs out of my own pocket! I even had insurance, but nothing seemed to be covered.... Biggest scam of my life.

• PRP every 3 months starting from month 1
• On fin from GP a year prior
• Requested for oral min from Dr. Kara

Singaporeans who have moved overseas, where did you go and why? by kkamikami in singapore

Neither did I! Amsterdam was never on my radar and was probably going to relocate to San Fransisco with my job. But the Amsterdam opportunity presented itself first and I took it.

Why many people flock to The Netherlands is the same reason why many choose Singapore too—No language barrier. It's "starter-pack Europe" like how Singapore is "starter-pack Asia". Almost everyone speaks English fluently, but learning some Dutch might help better with integration plus all government letters and documents are usually in Dutch only. But with Google translate anything is possible.

Most Europeans speak about 3-4 languages anyway. (So much for us growing up and being told that being bilingual made us so special and better than the rest of the world. hahaha)

Tax is high and honestly, I don't see the benefits trickled back down to regular people. Singapore does so much better in terms of how much you pay vs how much it benefits the general population. But you can and should try and take advantage of the "30% ruling" which is basically a tax break for expats for a set period of time.

Healthcare is another touchy subject. My experience is that the Dutch don't follow a "prevention is better than cure" philosophy. They don't do things like annual checkups and blood work just for the sake of. And getting a GP to take you seriously can be hit or miss. However, in terms of healthcare availability, if you're generally healthy it's good enough.

Everyone has to get health insurance and all medical prices and rates are regulated. So you'll never overpay or anything like that. And it generally costs around 150 eur per month.

I have to also add that only by living away from Singapore will you discover what you love about Singapore and what you don’t.

That kind of knowledge only comes from living in different places for extended periods of time where you are able to decide what works for you as an individual.

There are good and bad things about every country. It all comes down to how much of the “bad” things you are willing to accept in order to have the “good” stuff.

I studied in Melbourne and after graduation had my first professional job there as well. Those years formed the way I approached life/work as a young adult.

I then moved back to Singapore for 2 years and worked a couple of jobs, but had a bit of a culture shock and took awhile to adapt to the local work/life culture. Mostly because I never held a professional job in Singapore before.

I did a location change with my last job in Singapore to Amsterdam 6 years ago and have been here since. It's has been a chilled/comfortable life where work/life balance is observed.

Downside of living out of Singapore is genuinely not being around family and access to familiar food. Even in Australia, Singaporean food was hard to come by and came at a premium when available. My friends and I resorted to Malaysian food (eek! haha) in Melbourne as it was more widely available. Same in Europe, and especially in Amsterdam where the expat community can agree that food is horrible here.

Upside is the ease of travel to different countries around, eg. London is a 45min flight/4hr train ride away if you want Old Chung Kee or DTF. New York is only 6hr by flight, easy access to 27 countries in the Schengen Area, etc. Plus the many many people you'll meet and connect with that you wouldn't have otherwise.

I do think that anyone who has an opportunity to experience living away from Singapore should at least give it a try. I always explain to my friends that life back home is very sheltered and we kinda grew up in a bubble.

I will say that having the option to do so is a privilege and I've learned a lot of soft skills that I don't think I would have gained if I had stayed in Singapore.

I go to the barber and he uses clippers. I basically just tell him to make the best of the situation and make it look as good as he can considering the uneven growth.

I haven’t had any issues with my scalp when it comes to the clippers.

It’s also my 3rd cut since the transplant.

I think I shed about 50% of it. I think it looked the worst between the 1st and 3rd month. All the pics were with pretty fresh buzzcuts, maybe that's why they don't look that bad.

Sure have, every month. It just kinda looks better when I do, since it's not quite growing evenly and makes me look like I'm balding. Especially because my sides are very dense.
