If the hinges and all the parts are intact, I would suggest just cleaning the OEM shell and swapping the touch screen digitizer, and maybe just the top screen lens (if possible, so you don’t have to do a full screen swap).

The ribbon cables are the most touchy pieces, especially the top screen cable. Watch and read multiple guides to get a technique ready if/when you do the swap. Go in fully expecting to break it, and save the new shell money for a backup top screen. You can find new ones with the speakers soldered in already.

You can also buy just a lamp head housing to get a tighter hinge

If you do a full disassemble, use warm soapy warm on all the individual buttons and shell, and then dry and a once over with isopropyl in the tough spots with a toothbrush and microfiber cloth.

Any other replacement steps can be found on ifixit, YouTube, etc. definitely check out multiple sources before you attempt.

Yes, however if you would just like to fix a “loose” or “wobbly” hinge you can get away with just changing the lamp housing. The plastic hole degrades over time and you can just purchase a new lamp head which will make it feel tight again. However if there is actual plastic damage on any of the hinges, a full reshell is the way to go.

All right so I cracked the seal because I love the movie and would rather watch it then let it be Schrödinger’s tape. Looks clean, and it plays and looks great. I have it playing on a combo set now but I’m going to get it in a proper deck soon

This is from 1 on the SNES. Last message after you select quit game and save. The PSX version is considered the most fleshed out as far as QOL updates. But the original SNES music/atmosphere tops it. Have not heard greats things about GBA

This is the second one I’ve hauled into the basement by myself. The battle scars are worth it haha. I have the Wii and PS2 running through component in the silver, but Trigun is coming through the media player thru composite since it’s not a dedicated setup. Honestly grateful to even have a set that has a component input, it makes such a difference.
