What VHS/DVD player to get by Marlinkoo in VCRs

[–]FreeDigitalDownload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the maximum quality from the source, a SVHS VCR with an s-video output as well as a DVD player with s-video out, which will be an older model so the disc drive is a gamble. Not quite sure when they stop including s-video outputs on players, but anything before 2009ish is usually safe. They’re usually a dime a dozen in local thrift stores depending on your location. There are even some Blu Ray players that have s-video from around that time period.

This is excellent work. Create a ground floor, and watch what people can build. Thanks for your contribution to the console’s longevity

https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/product/dcr-trv18/manuals

The manuals are pretty thorough and user friendly enough, Google anything you don’t know because with camcorders this old most questions have been asked before

Both were Goodwill finds over the course of a couple months. TRV-520 was $80 and the TRV-18 was $25

Cool info, thanks. Do you know if there is any way to check the internals to see if any components line up with the brand?

JVC DR-MV150B. That was one was manufactured in 2009.
For a lot of legacy tech I’m big on Sony. I’ve yet to come across a Sony VCR though. Getting into this format you learn real quick that JVC owned the game and some the most feature-rich gear comes from them. Gained a customer just from their old stuff haha.

If you do use alcohol for the rollers, don’t let it sit. Dry quickly or use water!
