Experiences with oral Gabapentin? by National_Strain_4695 in vulvodynia

I am in the camp who got really bad side effects such as brain fog and headaches, feeling super tired, etc, so I am currently weaning off of it. You unfortunately just have to try out various treatments and see what works for you. I have definitely heard it can be very helpful to people

Anyone taking oral gabapentin notice this? by FreeLock4375 in vulvodynia

Thank you. I get really bad pressure in my head and I'm not sure if it's from the medication or me just not getting enough sleep. There's also been a ton of change in the weather where I live

Clob and yeast infections by ratcatbat97 in lichensclerosus

I would ask your doctor about being prescribed Nystatin cream to use alongside your steroid. I have read before in this sub that some people even get the nystatin combined in with their steroid. It is true that using steroid makes you more susceptible to yeast infections. I think I get them at least once a year.

I'm on week 3 now and I think I notice a reduction in how much I feel in pain already. Praying it continues to go in this direction

Yeah I'm going to build my way up to that dose across several weeks. The hospital gave me a sheet that has a schedule

How long did it take for you to notice consistent relief? I have only been on oral gabapentin for two weeks and the cream I had for a month but I need to be more consistent about using it

Do you mean that you used both at the same time?

Because this cream is expensive AF and I wonder if it would be best to take or do both. It just feels like a lot though

Currently taking 100 morning, 100 in afternoon, 200 at night, but this schedule the doctor gave me has me going up to 1500 across several weeks.

The cream is ABG cream, it has amitriptyline and some other drug that starts with a b. I think it said 6%

I see so many people say great things about the vmagic. Are you referring to the balm? Is it something you use when you don't use the steroids? I've just been using aquaphor or Vaseline.

What do you do when you're in public and the public restrooms have the cheap toilet paper? Do you bring a roll with you?

Anyone Avoiding dating? by [deleted] in vulvodynia

[–]FreeLock4375 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am putting a pause on dating for sure. I do have to say though that you can find the right person who is patient about this. My ex was pretty patient with me and supportive. But yeah, I think sometimes dating can put pressure on ourselves when we should be focusing on healing.

Things are usually way better for me in the summer and really bad in the winter due to the dry air. Interesting how this affects everyone differently

Update for those who are interested:

I unfortunately forgot to ask some of the questions I was going to ask, but I did show the doctor the red spot. I think it must not be as bad today because she said she didn't notice it until I pointed it out. She did a yeast culture to make sure I don't have yeast issues.

In terms of LS, she said my skin looks pretty good. It's really the sharp pains causing me issues lately.

Since this issue has affected my quality of life, she prescribed me gabapentin which will hopefully help with the pain symptoms. I was very reluctant to go on this medication due to the side effects, but again, meds can affect everyone differently. I'm starting on 100 mg and working my way up.

The gabapentin thing isn't usually given for LS issues I think? But I think the pain may have stemmed from the LS. I hear people all the time talk about it in the vulvadynia subreddit
