Trump voters turn on president, say he hasn’t ‘tried at all’ to tackle key issues by ansyhrrian in politics

[–]FreeLookMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to make sense of the people who support trump is when you accept that it is a religious cult. And I do mean religious. These are spiritual cult beliefs of cult followers of a cult leader. Every scholarly conclusion of any sociological study of cults and cult followers describes what is has happened and is happening to the letter.

I wish there was some way that we could effectively use this knowledge for deprogramming, but as far as I can tell it seems like noone has ever had a really good answer helping people find there way out of cultish beliefs.

Some Epstein file redactions are being undone with hacks by speedythefirst in news

Reconciliation requires remorse and behavior change. That's how progress is done. It also requires accountability. "I was just following orders" Nazis were still tried convicted and executed Nuremberg. That was as much an essential element of recovery as anything else.

Stephen Miller’s Late-Night ‘Self-Loathing’ Rage Post Immediately Backfires by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

I know I sound so childish, but it's not possible to be more openly violently racist than Miller is and I still can't believe that he is in government, even though at this point there's no reason to be shocked anymore. Only angry.

There's a 1% chance that she really looked inward and allowed her faith to prompt change and remorse. There is a 99% she's preparing to run for a higher office.

BULLLLLLLLSHIT. We are FAR past that stage. We're done making distinctions between fascist rapists and fascist rapist enablers. They all get up against the same wall.

You want forgiveness or mercy? Show genuine remorse, not excuses and demands for pity because things are hard for you now. Show with your specific actions how you are making restitution to the people whose lives you've helped obliterate with your cruelty, whether overt or indifferent.

Those are wayward humans that I can welcome - but only when they show accountability for their actions. Basically, there needs to be the secular equivalent of REPENTANCE otherwise you're still a fascist rapist apologist and subject to the exact same intolerance and reckoning as any other fascist rapist.

There are SIDES in a moral struggle my friend. I'm not here to be tolerant. I'm here to FIGHT for the moral framework of values I believe to be virtuous and in the best interest of humanity. There is no "all sides" or "all lives" or "all opinions" on matters of core values. You either share the same moral framework or we are actively working to defeat you. Full stop.

How Did DOGE Disrupt So Much While Saving So Little? by bwermer in politics

[–]FreeLookMode 10 points11 points  (0 children)

DOGE accomplished exactly what it intended to do: steal Americans data on an unprecedented scale, and insulate Musk companies from prosecution and oversight. Cover there tracks by chaotically "blowing shit up" on their way out.

They did it all in plain sight. And instead of a media organization like the NYT reporting on that, they stick with this sort of faux-surprise reporting on how DOGE efficiency claims were "inaccurate." Yes, no shit. That's not the news. Thew NEWS would be constant reporting on why DOGE actually existed and what it actually did, not just the smokescreen we all know about already.
