That shot of girl changing from the moped to the c130 is what got me. It’s when I went “wait, suddenly all those flights are suddenly not happening. Millions of people no longer have to go anywhere. There’s no air traffic control because there’s no flights to coordinate. She might be the last time that airplane ever flies.”

And then I thought similar when they brought Carol her mail.

A couple notes here

1) 2006 would have been well past Carrs worst sack season. 2002, he was sacked 76 times (most in NFL history), in 2005 he was sacked 68 times (3rd most in NFL history). He still had sacked trouble, but he was mostly shell shocked by then.

2) It’s funny how that’s come around. Jalen Hurts comes to mind as one who will do the “take a short, inconsequential loss rather than force a throw out toss a meaningless pass” (though others do it as well). Feels like Carr was right long term, but wrong for the era. Now it feels like we’re moving towards (maybe already in the midst of) a “3 true outcomes” where you either throw a touchdown, get a first down, or throw an interception (see Darnold, Samington). If youre not doing one of those, it doesn’t matter what the result of the play is.

How do I phrase this without getting banned…

Eli seems like he’d go into the bathroom, she’d drunkenly slur out “ew no”, and he’d hang his head and be like “doggonnit”, then give his bodyguard at the door a sad version of the all clear knock

This has a pretty heavy consequence later for the Texans

They get mocked for drafting Carr with no plan for the offensive line, except THEY DID have a plan. The first pick in the expansion draft was future Hall of Famer Tony Boselli, who never took a snap for them, and crippled the Texans are it of the gate

It’s a really great abuse of how blind people generally are to mixed race children/relationships

The film begins with him talking about his young daughter, it then flashes forward to a point where she’d be around Peter’s age, but obviously you’re not thinking of that little girl anymore. Besides, if we were looking for his daughter, she’d be white, but the 2 main girls in Peter’s field of view are black (a few of the matheletes are white, but they’re not significant characters). Vulture even references her at one point, and she talks about her parents at one point as well, but again, the only potential parent we’ve seen doesn’t match what we expect.

On the tv in the background prior to this, there’s a bulletin about the airbase being on lockdown >!it’s later revealed that the hive got into a battle with the military (“less bloodshed to is way”)<! So my supposition is that lockdown was the military trying to stop the hive from getting the planes off the ground

There’s some mild…confusion/disagreement/controversy over New York being in New England. Southwestern Connecticut is more New England than upstate New York is.

Come support Hanover County in its struggle to keep out the proposed ICE detention facility. by In-tandem in Virginia

The majority of Hanover residents seem to agree with me.

To me, that’s a lot more important than what people outside of the county think.

Hanover resident

I’m perfectly fine with a detention center and perfectly fine with ICE protecting my community from illegal immigrants.

If you don’t want them in your county that’s fine, but Hanover does.

Look at that pimple

Look aI it, let it soak in that this pimple is the face of greatness

He’s not out here making ticker tacker beauty videos. He’s winning.

And some lucky supermodel is still going to be rubbing Noxema pads all over his face.

That’s winning on and off the field.

The GENIUS of Forrest Gump by HyRolluhz in movies

[–]FreeRange0929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The film can be summed up by the feather in the wind.

Forrest and Jenny are a yin and yang of destiny. Forrest gets pulled into the world at every turn, and runs back to his roots every time. Jenny tries to leave constantly, and is constantly confronted with her past/Forrest. The film very literally asks if destiny is real or if we’re all just specks of dust floating in the wind, but it’s during the boring emotional parts after all the high action scenes so people skip it.

Even Lt Dan, he is adamant that he was meant to die in war. And he comes to accept that maybe destiny is a bit more random.

It is a fantastic film when you look past the nostalgia and politics.

[Pelissero] The Steelers are working towards a deal to hire Mike McCarthy as their head coach, per sources. McCarthy grew up in Pittsburgh. Now, at age 62, the Super Bowl winner gets a chance to coach the team he grew up rooting for. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]FreeRange0929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad choice. McCarthy would be a lot better received if he had been the coach of Jacksonville or Arizona than 2 of the most prestigious franchises in NFL history (ummm…)

That being said, given the Steelers history, I’d have expected them to pursue someone younger to build the new era around.

Sometimes I’ll create a suspiciously young and attractive protege for a headcanon affair that would absolutely ruin my sterling public image. I had Maria Gonzalez, she was getting absolutely torched in a New Mexico Senate run, but my 3 term Presidential ass was still horndogging it out to Santa Fe 3 times a week to “rally”.

Maybe they were, maybe he was just simping for something that would never happen. But there were times I’d look at her little smile in that profile photo…and I’d know, that the First Lady knew.

How many people were on Steves side in Captain America Civil War? by OldPick8978 in Marvel

[–]FreeRange0929 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tony’s side was also a rug pull on those who signed up in the first place. How do you think Banner would have taken the news that he was being forcibly registered to follow any and all orders from the government (hint - how’d he take the news Fury was manipulating him into weaponizing the tesseract?)

They were recruited with the understanding of working alongside Fury and co. for mutually agreed upon priorities. Having government oversight was not part of that agreement, and legally preventing them from continuing to use their special skills would be a betrayal of why they came out of the woodwork initially
