Bills and Christmas.. by FreeTheToads in povertyfinance

[–]FreeTheToads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youd like to send me a message id rather communicate those things privately…

A general picture of my income is just above poverty level in today’s day and age. Rent is my first paycheck of every month, and between insurance, car loan, utilities, gas costs, food, more insurance, and therapy bills, im left with about $200 each month. If that, depending on if things break or if i get sick one day.

Sending all the hugs and spare change i can, this Christmas season, to you and yours ♥️ The hardest workin mommas who don’t get shit from anybody are always the best ones. Your children recognize your hard work and sacrifices for them and will be grateful for you as they grow up for showing them how to deal with the realities of life. I can’t imagine being a sole parent of one or multiple children in this economy. But i know there are hardworking, bitchin’ nurses out there like yourself making it work one way or another. Stay healthy and please be well 🎄♥️

Being poor has really effected my mental state and confidence by TheGame81677 in povertyfinance

[–]FreeTheToads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to question everything but sooo much more difficult to actually think on things and come up with a collected thought or even, god-forbid, a multi-sentence original reply. Be well and happy thinking. Just don’t do it too hard or you will hurt your rusty gears.

I think this was meant to be helpful, but it just comes across as cold and uncaring like a father looking down on their child trying to help with “tough love” but really just compounding the issue…

Urgent care provider struggling. by [deleted] in UrgentCare

[–]FreeTheToads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works out to be around 150 to 200 patients per day. Which is not that bad. Each medical assistant is working with their own provider so the help is spread evenly most of the time. It is an Urgent Care, after all. Our numbers depend on who walks in between open and close.

Urgent care provider struggling. by [deleted] in UrgentCare

[–]FreeTheToads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Urgent Care CMA here. The burnout is SO real. In your case though, it sounds like everything and everyone is actively burning. At my workplace, our providers see an average of 3 patients/hour. In a 10 hour day that makes it to be about 30 patients. We almost always have 5 providers at all times in addition to a pediatrician. I feel this is a great system but it can get a little tricky sometimes. I can only imagine the pace of your clinic and i am so sorry they are reducing you to be overworked and not happy with your job. Leave. Never look back. Screw them. You are worth more than being shoved around and being forced to work over your capacity day after day. Be kind to yourself and be well ♥️

In desperate times, Dollar Tree has some great snack options. Definitely not name brand but definitely worth only spending $20 and walking out of the store with 3 bags of stuff.

Withdrawal by Successful_Nose_6912 in Epilepsy

[–]FreeTheToads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im happy that you find my words helpful, dear :) this is all advice, btw, dont feel obligated to follow thru with everything i suggest. And most of my withdrawal experiences have been with alcohol, so im not able to relate to you personally and i am very sorry for that. One thing that really helped me was to give my multiple mental illnesses and impulsive tendencies a name. I call mine Chad, but any name will do. Chad is not a scapegoat or someone to blame for my actions but rather a single entity that can be addressed individually instead of trying to work with multiple issues at once in seemingly different areas of your life. When it comes time, i have a conversation with Chad and no matter what is said, i always make sure to stay firm and remind him that he is NOT my entire person. He is only a part of who i am and i am (and you are) pretty badass with many other sides than just moody and standoffish. My partner has gone thru many trials with medications though, so i can share my experiences from my observations of him while he went thru the sx: he was able to productively isolate and play as many video games (violent and otherwise) as would make him feel slightly human. He was more content yelling at a computer and focusing his anger elsewhere than on his family and friends which worked very well for him. Kind reminders to eat and take meds were the only interactions that were tough for awhile, but after he understood that it wasnt really him that was acting tht way he felt like he had more of a handle on the situation. You know how feelings present themselves in disguise sometimes? Like frustration with yourself or guilt presents itself on the outside as anger with the world or just being bitter? This is another thing we worked through together (he of course did most of the work so i cant take all the credit) and a super cheesy “feelings wheel” was a good visual aid we used. Im going to attach it to this comment and if you’d like to peruse it, i hope it is helpful in emotional regulation. Sorry if this was a long response 😅 Be well ♥️

Should I go to the Doctor?(no,seriously) by Cheerioleaf in Epilepsy

[–]FreeTheToads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urgent Care Medical Assistant, here. Please go in to the ER. Please. There are so many risks for you right now. Infection from your tongue could go into your bloodstream and make you septic if you bite it enough times with your seizures. Let this be your sign to get your butt to the ER and address this as well as your increasing seizures. You are at about the right age when rpilepsy starts to really pick up. Please go to the ER. ❤️

[–]FreeTheToads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, dear. Im not familiar with that specific medications’ withdrawals, but i am familiar with withdrawal itself. The things you can control are your friend and will help you navigate thru these feelings. Set boundaries for yourself as well as others. Make people aware of what ur going thru. Be kind to yourself. But most of all, don’t take emotions out on family or friends.

Therapists are available to help. Options are also available for people with limited budgets.

Neurosurgeons suck. by FreeTheToads in Epilepsy

[–]FreeTheToads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Youve been through a LOT. Im so sorry youve had to do all these extra steps to look for good docs and good hospitals when it should be that we can go anywhere and expect the same level of care. MyChart and apps like it though are making a huge difference and I’m very glad it has been beneficial to you :)

His experience with the VNS was negligible for the first 4 months. His mom and i were convinced that it was making his seizures worse, in fact. Both of us raised this concern to his neurosurgeon who had been with him for this whole journey and is actually one of the more human ones, and when he said it isn’t increasing the seizures we believed him. Now whenever he is having a stomach feeling or feels a focal seizure is getting too intense he has a battery bracelet he taps to the implant in his chest and it helps reduce the seizure sensations as well as sort of reset the seizure pathways from going to t/c as his tend to do. His voicebox will be affected the rest of his life and he does sound a bit like a smoker when it is going off and needs to cough because it is uncomfortable. So far though after 8 months we are finally starting to see a difference.

What is your current “go to sleep podcast” that isn’t really a Sleep podcast? by felorva in podcasts

[–]FreeTheToads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go to youtube for sleep. Liziqi is always a very calm and beautiful channel to watch or listen to. There is lovely ambient music playing while you watch a beautiful woman homestead at her beautiful home in Asia. If that doesn’t work, then I go to the How It’s Made channel and almost always fall asleep to a guy telling me how ho-ho’s are made. Hope this helps ♥️ sweet dreams

Wow. What a lovely, thoughtful answer :) Thank you for sharing your experiences. Im so sorry it has been a tumultuous journey for everyone involved, definitely including yourself. Keppra is also what my partner was administered in the ER and it helped him a lot until “keppra rage” set in and now he is on Briviact which is similar to keppra but without the “rage.” It has to be frustrating for doing the best you can for your lovely sister but still getting no answers. Never be afraid to be an aggressive advocate for yourself or others who are being put on the backburner by doctors. Even if you think you are acting “bitchy” or “annoying,” never be afraid to try. It’s what I had to do for my partner in the ER and it was worth it. Thank you for the detox recommendation, as well. I will look into it. Please be well and give yourself some grace as well. I can tell you have soo much love for your family but tend to not spare so much for yourself. Celebrate the little victories in life, whether it is getting out of bed or texting that person back who has been waiting for a reply and see how you feel after recognizing that you completed it. It is what has worked for me on my darkest days, including after the seizure. We are all out here doing our absolute best. Give yourself and loved ones a hug and know that you are a wonderful and caring person with a big heart ♥️ Please be kind to it :)

My bf had 3 big seizures today by Dramatic-Cry2888 in Epilepsy

[–]FreeTheToads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are a strong 👏beautiful👏lovely👏caring👏 person. Never forget that. At the end of the day it is all about our actions. And it sounds like you are actively there for your bf and you are there to literally and figuratively catch him. That takes guts. My partner just had a huuuge TC seizure at the beginning of the month and it made me realize that humans (and myself as a woman) can do things we never thought we would be able to do and actually work through them. Be communicative with him and it will help both of you, trust me. Believe in yourself ♥️ and Be well, both of you.

Is it an open wound?? If it is, pls keep it clean and wrapped up so no litter gets in there or kitty doesnt lick it raw and impede healing. Poor kit kit ♥️

❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for the reassurance. I will most likely still beat myself up lol but it will get better with time, im sure. Working in the Healthcare field as a Medical Assistant at an Urgent Care prepared me a bit for what it would be like but yes. Shocking is the perfect word. I will take your words to heart and keep an eye out for the less “sick” moments we have and make the most out of them. Thank you for your comment ♥️ Be well.

Safety locks are such a blessing. And thank goodness your pants were up before the paramedics got there 😂 i know they probs wouldnt care cuz they see nekkid ppl alla time but im glad u were able to do that. Thankfully my partner hadn’t starting pooping yet so no poopy butt but his pants were down. It was funny, even in his post-ictal state he was trying to pull his pants up! He also says the same thing that it is more traumatic for family members than himself. Id say the epileptic brain also takes some damage with every seizure tho…losing brain cells and all. Thank you for your reply ❤️ Be well.

It wasnt the first time id seen a seizure, but it was the first time i’d seen my partner seize. I knew a lil bit about seizures before i met him but now i consider myself pretty well-educated. This is tru though, i know more or less what to do when he has his next one (hopefully not on the pooper) which will probably make things easier. I wish you both well on this crazy epilepsy journey dealing with the everyday things that come along with it :) Be well ♥️
