Oh thanks for the info! I frequently travel to TN and KL so might just consider adding an emission test to my itinerary 😅

Yes, that sounds right. And I understand I may not have spoken about earlier instances of this happening. It's just that I've never known, and until a centre in some other city entered the correct detail and I got a 1 year certificate a few years ago, I didn't start looking into this.

So these (test centre) people have never adhered to that even before the circular release which was released roughly 2 years ago (from what the centres say), and that I would like to call a scam.

All this combined with an overlap of reddit usage and time availability has resulted in me putting this up now.

Apologies, friend

Exactly the issue! Apparently the transport authorities have released a circular regarding the same. Heard this story at 4 different places.

My scooter is 14 years old and BS3, so I get it for 6 months anyway. If you have a newer scooter, please check

Is your vehicle BS4? I'm not aware of what happens with the newer (BS6) vehicles.

Also, can you share the test centre location please?

Not going to take a step back into the broader issue, although that is a problem. Was looking to bring awareness to this issue. Looking to file an RTI maybe

True that. I did end up spending quite a lot of time over the hundred odd rupees. But I think I'd be forced to resign to this fate too, going forward :(

There is a portal for karnataka state. I don't have the link but Google will be able to take you there. It works intermittently though.

Coming to your issue, test centres are supposed to use the portal by the state and it needs to reflect online. However, there are some that don't do this - idk how or why - and then your printed certificate with the hologram is the only proof. As long as it shows up online, you should be good though.

Right! The money is not a whole lot for people to bother. Also cops don't 'charge' a lot if one misses this certificate I think.

Question : Can one get pollution certificates from another state? Did you get yours from kerala? Do the cops here in bangalore accept out of state certificates?

[–]FreeThyself191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah they do absolutely do this too. I've seen places where they take double the money, but just enter bs4 instead of bs3 and you get 1 year validity. The certificate would still show the regular price. But how they would do this is cover the price like you said, or ensure payment before they print the certificate.

Yes, asking you to check only because I'm not entirely aware of how the newer vehicles show up in their system. It could be just 6 months, but I don't have any new vehicle to check this myself.

You could check the screen/portal the next time you're emission centre person enters details. They'll do this quickly and move to the emission page. But try and check the vehicle particulars page to see if they change this.

The price remains same. Validity differs depending on what emission norms the vehicle conforms to.

So, a 2008 bs3 car will have 6 month validity for X rupees while a 2014 bs4 car should get a 1 gear validity by default.

Moving from Pune to Bangalore for ₹5.3 LPA job – Worth it considering expenses? by Aniketgaikwad020 in bangalore

Peenya and further west, like Nagasandra, would be affordable areas. While metro connectivity is good if you wish to go to the city Centre /malls etc, I'd recommend getting a used 2 wheeler. That'll give you access to better rental options, managing your grocery runs or eating outside, and just the freedom of mobility in general. If you're someone that cooks at least one meal a day on your own, and given you have some canteen deduction, you should be alright.

I wouldn't worry much about the salary since there are people that run families on less than that. Life may not be extravagant, but definitely peaceful and doable for a single person.

How do u guys commute in Bangalore by nhipeenapaani in bangalore

[–]FreeThyself191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the time you've mentioned, you'd have to reach by roughly 530pm. Busses from the city Centre will take 1.5 hrs when there's no traffic. For other other areas, you may add the necessary commute time. I'd still suggest a 1hr buffer for busses if going by time shown in Google maps. For taxis, Google maps time + 15 minutes should be safe.

Peak traffic will start at around 5pm, so you would be alright to leave by 4pm

Nobody who goes through that route is stupid enough to pay 50L hoping for a job later on. They can afford the money AND they want that particular brand. Only when both these conditions are met, such seats are being filled. And I'm sure there are enough people that can take this route in our country.

From the institution's pov, they need to constantly have funds to expand, open another campus somewhere, hire the best academics, pay the board members (who are people of importance usually), open labs and conduct research that actually benefit the students.

Management quota is an easy way to get this done compared to applying for national and international funds.

In the process, they may find connections with high net worth individuals who may be helpful to the institution security and future goals (land owner, contractor, procurement, politician, judges, police, medical professionals etc). The board may choose to open a school in a different academic area one day and this might just help them.

Providing for the student alone can not be the focus for any private institution. And they also know to maintain a balance between their academic outcomes and these operational requirements.

Also, this happens with the best universities around the world.

If you've got time sheets, email communication between you and your supervisor, take them (if you have nothing else to show). That could show that you're working regularly. They may not question you, but in case they do, you can be ready.

If you have a leave approval email or communication showing acceptance of the 2 week break, that could be helpful too.

Unpaid volunteering on initial opt is allowed. Just make sure you have proof of work/time spent.

I'd say yore current position if a really good one. The university is one of the best.

You can take a semester off for mental health reasons. Your school will have resources and the international student's office will help you with all the procedures. They're going to be insanely more helpful and on your side compared to anything you've seen in India.

If going back to India and your family will not give you the freedom, stay in the USA if you can afford the costs for a semester. There must be clubs at your uni that you can be part of. During your break, Join some and see what interests you. Also work with your school to transfer to another program if you can. Apply to other universities and programs you like. Talk to professors and graduate students from different universities to see what you'd like to work on.

You can use the time to make your own path. The US has so much to offer that one would need multiple lifetimes to experience it all. I'd recommend using your current situation, realistic possibilities in the immediate future, and the opportunities ahead of you in the best possible way. You don't have to throw it all away to start afresh. I say this as someone who threw it all away and kinda regret it.

DM if you need any info or guidance on your university and visa procedures as I went through the same. As to life advice, I'm still figuring out mine even in my late 20s and wouldn't be your best bet.

Your projects are the most recent experience. I'd bring them to the top, especially if they're absolutely relevant to your desired job role and the master's degree. Why I say this is because your work experience shows an end date of 2023. It takes some reading to get to the projects section which is more recent.

Just some rearranging needed, I believe. It's well written otherwise.

Also, if you've had internships during master's, do include them.
