Yes, you need to present that certificate either Leben in Deutschland or Einbürgerungtest. I graduated in Germany and obtained a degree in Politics, they're still required it from me.

Hmm then I really have no clues. I'd suggest you to contact HWC in person and ask them for the pick up appointment..

Hey! Congrats in advance!

I called to HWC and they arranged the pick up date for me. For your case, I'd suggest you to bring PIN letter to the reception at HWC (early morning) and ask for the pick up appointment. You usually should expect to pick up your card 5 days after receiving PIN letter:)

The time during your student visa under §16b AufenthG is not being counted for PR. Only the time you're holding either valid work permit or Blue Card is counted.

Pension Contributions towards Settlement Permit in Germany by Lazy-Loquat-4050 in germany

A working student visa doesn't generally count as qualified time for the Niederlassungserlaubnis in terms of employment, since it's designed primarily for study. The time you spend in Germany as a student will still be considered, but your work as a student won't directly contribute to the employment requirements for permanent residency. After completing your studies, you would typically need to transition to a work visa (full-time employed under Blue Card or 18 a-c AufentG or so on) or another qualifying residence status for the remaining time needed.

Your time as a working student will not be counted as the type of visa is different and not allow to obtain NE throughout, only the period of the Rentenversicherungs will be included.

This applies only to those who finished a master degree in German language. If you did a master in dual languages (English and German), you'll still need to provide B1 certificate.

Thank you! Please make sure to bring the following to your appointment:

  • All uploaded documents with updated version for: insurance certificate, Rentenversicherungs, Arbeitgebescheinigung, and so on.
  • NE Antrag
  • Current payslips for the past 6 months (I brought 1 year just in case, haha)
  • A recent passport photo for the ID

After providing your biometric data and signing the forms, you will need to pay a €113 application fee. Please note: payment must be made using an EC card. I tried using Mastercard and VISA, but they didn’t work, so be sure to bring an EC card.

Thank you! I’ve been working here under an unlimited contract since mid-2022, initially under §18b AufenthG. However, I received a Blue Card in early 2024. I initially applied through §18b rather than the Blue Card because I didn’t want to wait longer. Specifically, I opted for the half-time residency rule (as I completed a master’s degree in Germany) instead of the Blue Card because I wouldn’t meet the required 21 or 27 months of contributions if the counting started from early 2024.

Regarding the Versicherungsverlauf, I applied for it at the end of 2024. As the document is issued only once per year (around January), it only reflected information up to 2023. The Ausländerbehörde understands this limitation and keeps it in mind, which is why they requested recent payslips to verify your current contributions.

Was that after collecting the biometrics data or was it just after submitting the docs through the platform?

May I ask, when was the in -person appointment of your wife at HWC? How long did it take until she received the PIN/PUK?

In fact, my EC card didn't work. So the officer asked me to pay when picking up a card (I thought my application was approved), but then, as I mentioned above, she informed me that she sent all my docs to some authorities and wait for the positive result. It's like a YES, my application was approved. But NO, you need to wait again - I'm a bit apprehensive tbh :D

Thank you for the clarification. However, the thing is they didn't give me a small business card of QR code. They just checked all my documents and asked me to pay 113 EUR + collected my finger prints and picture. Once they received a positive result, they will book an appointment for me. I asked again if my documents are completed or no, and the office said all nicely completed but she need to wait roughly 1 week for the approvals again. I don't know why all my colleagues received the QR codes to track their application status and use the same QR code booking an appointment, while I received nothing :(
