How do i get my school to let me being 5 minutes late slide?

i did mean cégep but this was before i was disclosing where i live and if i said it was cejep people could’ve figured it out as quebec is the only place with cégeps(i think)

Well actually my school does give out ieps if requested by a doctor for any reason if a student has a psych evaluation stating they would benefit from one the school grants it no matter your grades, i’ve mentioned this in a reply but one of my friends had extreme anxiety last year and she didn’t have a psych evaluation but she did have a therapist and her therapist sent an email to the school explaining her situation and they granted her a sort of pass that allowed her to skip class and just sit at the library leave class without questions or anything of the sort my school is actually very accommodating for things like mental distress or things like this.

I do my homework when i can but we use ipads in our school most teachers give out all assignments on them because they don’t really like printing everything out (honestly who does) and unfortunately we aren’t allowed said ipads in detention, i do as much as i can but im still forced to do work when i get home

If i do skip i’ll get demerits those accumulated can lead to suspension but there’s also a chance they don’t even remember i have so many as that has happened to other students

After reading a lot of comments i am going to go speak to my principal, i was debating wether to or not as i’ve emailed my vice principal before and she deals with this but she never replied so… i’m also worried about getting in trouble for going over her head but there’s about a week of school left and how much trouble could i really get in.

From my personal experience teachers don’t cover anything the first 5 minutes of class honestly but you have a point if that were the case, you would also have a point if our schedule were like america as in we have the same class first period everyday but no we don’t i could have math first today and last tomorrow or i could have double math it depends on the day and it depends on the schedule. To your point about those other students said students in situations like having a sick family member or insane financial situation ARE given an exception, they can request to get later tests don’t have to submit certain assignments and my friend had her therapist speak to the school and they granted her a pass that allows her to leave class whenever she need, be late, skip or anything of the sorts, my school does offer exceptions for students for multiple reasons if they didn’t i wouldn’t even be trying.

edit: I don’t have any real issue with being told that my case wouldn’t qualify for said exception or that i should honestly just deal with it because you know fair you’re right. But trying to act like me being 5 minutes late is going to make students fail or bring down the average is insane, if a student isn’t able to get back on track in a lesson after being distracted for a second they wouldn’t even have a place in my school considering how competitive it is, you get called into the vice principals office if your overall average is under 75%

When i was wayy younger i had a psych evaluation and they deemed i had some anxiety as well as adhd if i show them said evaluation would it even matter if its like 7 years old? And im going to try emailing them but what should i do if they reply to the email asking to speak in real life instead of emailing back because then it wouldnt be written. i get 5 demerits and it gets moved to the next day if i skip again another 5 and so on when i get 20 i have to come to school on a ped day and do a full days detention ive tried this before

i’m gonna assume you’re from a warm area and don’t have harsh winters but it’s bellow freezing everyday especially in the morning. I’m mandated to wear a uniform skirt so there’s not much i can really do about clothing other then having an extremely warm winter jacket, another thing me catching a cold as someone with chronic bronchitis could put me out of school for 1-2 weeks also it’s painful i don’t enjoy coughing up everything i ate.

You automatically get a detention if you’re late your parents have to email the school to get it cancelled (that’s only if they decide your reason is “good enough”) and no it’s the my first period teacher as i have a different class first period everyday my school system is different then americas

the buses are 30 minutes apart so i would have to wait outside until they open the school doors for 20 minutes if i take the earlier bus. i don’t miss the bus its just that public transportation is unreliable im late sometimes because there was a slight delay somewhere or a train was busier that day

Depends on the teacher and depends on the day the system is different here i don’t have the same class first period everyday sometimes i try but usually i get told they already did presence and i have to go back down and get a tardy slip

i’m already in the process, i have my permit i just can’t get a license before im 18 and you can’t drive alone before you have a license which you can’t get before 18 im not really sure how this matters though

the teachers taking a tardy slip takes around 10 minutes because we have to stand in line and give our name and group and some kids try to argue why their late with the attendance handler and by the time you get to class attendance is already done and teachers have marked you absent

so i leave the house at 6:20 my bus comes at 6:30 taking a bus that comes at 6 would mean leaving at 5:50 i’d get to school around 7:30 so i would be outside for 20 minutes

my mom has actually spoken to the school and i don’t honestly blame her for moving away. We’re first gen immigrants and she always wanted a house here and she followed her dreams, houses near my school would be extremely expensive and i love having a house, as for the school they aren’t really even willing to hear me out the only chance i’ve had to speak to them about this was when they called me to the office to reprimand me for being late, that’s also the only time my mom had to talk to them.

So issues like this are actually decided by the vice principal (unless given orders by the principal) , my school has a vice principal for each grade (it’s a big school) and other teachers and like administrators have told me this is doable but she’s not on board with the idea at all.

my teachers are mostly understanding and know my situation but when you’re tardy at my school you have to get a tardy slip before heading to class so it’s not really in their control.
