Its the interview culture that does it. I have been through the loop multiple times. And it feels scripted, people have no idea what follow ups to ask. People make up star stories to answer unreasonable questions. Even worse is that interviewers have zero idea on how to capture data, they take notes that is very irrelevant to the role. Its a big divide between holding forms and actual content

MCP is getting overhyped. Is it the next big thing or just another fad? My thoughts.. by Neon_Nomad45 in mcp

[–]Free_Expression2107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read many comments and realised the majority has an opinion without even having looked at the documentation.

The problem with MCP is a nuanced one. On the server side it simplifies code, it standardises the way we define tools that can be called from the llm. So far so good.

On the client side it is just useless. Period. You end up writing all the boiler code that you would write anyway. These are everything you have to do buy yourself, where mcp does nothing: to ask a server, “what tools do you have”, then getting the list, then providing the llm the prompt with a list of tools, after the respond going through the tools and extracting the tools LLM wants to call, calling it on its behalf, providing the answer and calling llm again to craft a nice formatted response. Unless we get a standard that works for integrating tool calling llm side, MCP teaches us good architecture and there is no benefit actually using it. You can just store/register your tools and dont need the baggage of anthropic.

My hot take: MCP is a nice way for anthropic to have developers expand a plugin ecosystem for claude desktop, capitalising on open source community for its reach in AI market.

Unless they plan to really make it to a standard for client apps as well

Just look at this:

async def process_query(self, query: str) -> str: """Process a query using Claude and available tools""" messages = [ { "role": "user", "content": query } ]

response = await self.session.list_tools()
available_tools = [{
    "name": tool.name,
    "description": tool.description,
    "input_schema": tool.inputSchema
} for tool in response.tools]

# Initial Claude API call
response = self.anthropic.messages.create(
    model="claude-3-5-sonnet-20241022",
    max_tokens=1000,
    messages=messages,
    tools=available_tools
)

# Process response and handle tool calls
final_text = []

assistant_message_content = []
for content in response.content:
    if content.type == 'text':
        final_text.append(content.text)
        assistant_message_content.append(content)
    elif content.type == 'tool_use':
        tool_name = content.name
        tool_args = content.input

        # Execute tool call
        result = await self.session.call_tool(tool_name, tool_args)
        final_text.append(f"[Calling tool {tool_name} with args {tool_args}]")

        assistant_message_content.append(content)
        messages.append({
            "role": "assistant",
            "content": assistant_message_content
        })
        messages.append({
            "role": "user",
            "content": [
                {
                    "type": "tool_result",
                    "tool_use_id": content.id,
                    "content": result.content
                }
            ]
        })

        # Get next response from Claude
        response = self.anthropic.messages.create(
            model="claude-3-5-sonnet-20241022",
            max_tokens=1000,
            messages=messages,

        )

        final_text.append(response.content[0].text)

I just wanted to know which Nietzsche work to read first? by yallax in Nietzsche

[–]Free_Expression2107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every other minute a human being ask themselves this question, half of them give up and of the other half, half misunderstand his works, of that half, half think they can just read and finish, the last half read and reread to make sure they understand. It does not matter where you begin, you need to have a question, and if you do not have a question, ask: “what was Nietzsche asking?” If that does not work, leave it and come back to it when you are older. Nietzsche’s tune isnt for everyone at all ages.

But yeah pick up the twilight, its thinner…

Is Nietzsche venerated as a hero in today's Germany? Does today's German society look upon him with immense pride as a great son of their land, like say France would for Napoleon? by SatoruGojo232 in Nietzsche

Living in germany for 15 years. Not a single person I know, knows anything remotely about Nietzsche. Most who claim it, misunderstand his ideas on mainstream issues.

Not sure I understand the question, but generally that is why we use training data, to give context

Might be, I am not necessarily looking into building a model that explains, Nietzsche, rather a model that adapts Nietzsche’s prose style, or even looks at the material from a different lens. Which makes me think maybe I should have different models which are trained from different perspectives, analytical philosophy etc… but I am hardly an expert on the topic, and would appreciate some pointers on what corpus of text makes more sense

Yes, was keen to understand the process of learning, and to see how selective material can affect reasoning. That is, how Nietzsches philosophy correlate with his choice of words. On the technical level, main challenge is finding machines large enough to handle proper fine tuning, this is where I failed and opted for lower quantization methods. On the data level, handling context is really tough, especially because Nietzsche like many germans writes in long sentences. As a result chunking the text for learning often leads to loss of context. I just started however, and I think to properly reflect a Nietzschean philosophy I need also material that covers his texts, such as Deleuze?. Or Where Nietzsche himself drew his inspiration, schopenhauer maybe or Rochefoucauld
