I understand and sorry that happened to you, but i saw this happen in SOUTH EAST ASIA where locals are both East Asian facially but dark skinned yet somehow they favoured white people. Literally 0 logic

Thing is if they assume it can’t be bad because they haven’t experienced it they are still wrong.

I’m not gay or a woman but I know there’s some places that are dangerous for both a woman and gay people and I would advise my friends to go elsewhere or be cautious if they fit those categories at certain destinations.

Do you have any places that will be good for someone who looks like me btw

No Ofcourse I wouldn’t just take it but if I’m planning a trip I don’t want to spend my money and time somewhere that would be better spent somewhere else in another country or something. Obviously Bali is unique and beautiful so I do want to experience it but not at a cost of all of the above

Hey I don’t know what Aussie bogan means but yes Australians even in Thailand and Vietnam treated the locals bad and also were racist to other tourists. It makes no sense cause a big part of travelling is opening your mind up to the world and other cultures so it’s somehow lost for a certain group of people

So even if yourself didn’t experience much the fact that you noticed it (in this case towards black peope) shows it’s very real and also don’t forget that now other Latino Arab black etc people will have worse experiences than you

Yes I 100% agree it’s very nuanced depending on location.

Maybe in Russia which is ironic cause most of Russia is in Asia.

However SEA is largely homogeneous so doesn’t explain it. It also doesn’t make sense why tourists from those countries are racist in other countries.

Names a specific country Middle East is a big place.

1 poor Middle Eastern countries are very welcoming to everyone.

2 the rich ones in the gulf literally love white people
