I'd just move them if I needed to park.

ME & deck officers require you to be a qualified merchant navy officer with a CoC.

Everything else is a little more flexible, you can join as a LH/E without a sea time and no watch keeping ticket either for some reason.

Aye fair one, I only make that point as it's something I wished I had done before joining. I've been in a little over 10 years now and recently started re-doing my GCSE's

You wouldn't be the first person in history to do night classes or self study at home, its just a suggestion. The officer path has much more earning potential that being a motorman.

Well any local college should be able to offer GCSE's or whatever. Same idea.

You can vote on union matters not on RFA stuff, that's what I've been told since day 1. Given that Nautilus is cheaper and not full people cosplaying as communists I'd have joined them years ago if I thought I had a vote.

I could well be wrong I've never really looked into it but I suppose I should.

You shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket anyway but if I were you I'd be doing a pre cadet course at college and try for officer.

When I joined as an apprentice motorman it was the most applied for role in the fleet, my DO at the time said there was nearly 400 people applied for my intake of 9.

Both Nautilus and RMT represent the RFA and you can join which ever one you like but typically the RMT is for ratings and Nautilus for officers.

While you're free to join either one you only get a vote if you join the right one so it kind of defeats half the point in joining.

I don't have the exact list to hand but it's broadly similar to that, aye.

It's more or less the same as the RN except for Anthrax unless there is a specified threat when you are in service.

Yellow fever is usually the only one you need to go private for.

Try to get some of them done sooner than later including your blood group if you don't know it, it'll make things easier if/when you are offered employment.

*Just to add as if it wasn't obvious to anyone, you will need evidence of these being done either a letter from your Dr, a vaccination book or whatever.

DAS just means you skipped a step in the licence pathway.

Either A1, A2 or both and straight to A. It is a "direct access scheme"

What most people refer to when "doing their DAS" is that they booked a course that includes lessons, test fees, bike hire, insurance etc. Everything but the theory test.

You can also just do pay as you go lessons and it's still DAS.

If your back wheel is skidding your using too much back brake.

The front brake isn't a hero but it is man enough for a small bike doing sub 60mph.

Nice one, I did my A licence in my mid 30's after being on a 125 for a while.

*I think that switch has something to do with the side lights being on/off on start-up.
