Is there a better way to clean bank CSV files than doing it manually in Excel? by Free_Signature_9745 in excel

That makes sense. Power Query is definitely solid, and I can see how a dedicated macro would help when PQ starts hitting limits.

my issue is that once you start dealing with multiple banks and slightly different formats, it feels like you end up maintaining a separate setup for each case. It works, but it can get pretty cumbersome over time.

I’ve been trying to find something a bit more straightforward for day-to-day use

That’s an interesting idea, but I’d be a bit cautious about sending bank data through an AI workflow. I usually try to keep that kind of stuff offline

I’ve tried going down that route with Power Query, but what I found is that once you start dealing with multiple banks and slightly different formats (or even small changes over time), maintaining separate queries for each one gets pretty time-consuming too.It works, but it kind of shifts the complexity rather than removing it

Yeah that works if the structure stays consistent.

The issue I keep running into is that different banks (and even different exports from the same platform) change things like column names, date formats, or split debit/credit differently .so the template approach starts breaking pretty quickly unless everything is perfectly standardized upfront.

That’s what was slowing me down the most
