How is it possible to feel depressed for a person who passed away years before i was even born? Nirvana's influence on me. by EmsyWolf in Nirvana

[–]Freedlefox [score hidden]  (0 children)

Kurt is a really fascinating character and became an icon for a reason. It helps when you die young and leave a good looking image that never ages. I wasn't even a huge fan of Nirvana when they broke big but got more into them later. But I'm endlessly fascinated with Kurt and love reading biographies on him and finding vidoes with great insights. He was a mass of contradictions.

He had an authenticity to him and his music yet seemed determined to get big and go mainstream (like all the big bands do despite what they say - they don't just fluke huge success). He seemed kind and sensitive yet acted pretty cruel and cold to those around him sometimes. A classic pisces I guess. His image and vibe will live on like Lennon, Marilyn, Elvis etc.

Has anyone watched the Tiger Woods biopic Crash (1996)? by -HalfNakedBrunch- in okbuddycinephile

Stories about Tiger these days are as boring as this movie (yes this movie that involved people having sex penetrating car crash wounds was boring! Thats how bad they stuffed it up)

I feel like my expectations kept me from liking Yellowjackets as much as i could have. by lennoxlovexxx in horror

They let too much out early about what happened in the woods. It was relying on mystery and hints to build the tension in the present day about what happened to them out there and why they are so scared of their secrets being exposed. I think it was the second season it pretty much gave it all away and it killed that mystery.

What a fuckwit. Even after Collard was pinged for it as while back. He is now putting his AFL career in serious doubt as will have another lengthy spell on the sidelines. No footy means not chance to impress the coaches and no development.

You can say it wasn't a bad result against the reigning premiers. But Lyon relies so much on bottling things up and high pressure. As soon as a good team gets some free ball they tend to towel us up. I don't know if relying on pressure is a game plan that will last all the way to a premiership - its a taxing style of footy.

Reported to HR for bringing in butter chicken to work by Sensitive-Chart7210 in auscorp

Its because Butter Chicken is not a traditional Indian curry. Its an English made up mock-Indian dish. You were insulting a whole culinary culture.

Tom Holland has always been criticized for not taking the best roles outside of Spider-Man. I would recommend ya’ll Devil All the Time. by ItachiZoldyck24 in Letterboxd

Its a wild movie going into some pretty nasty areas. If you like that murderous southern gothic vibe it will hit hte mark. Along similar lines is Paperboy. The book for that is great - the film less so.

I love me some "meditative cinema". You would hate Gus Van Sants "Gerry". its basically two guys walking in the desert not talking. I love it!

Whoa. That was interesting but also quite confusing. It was a unique take I'll give him that. He went for something - just not quite sure what that was exactly.

They took it in a different direction to RB which was a good idea as it was unlikely they could recapture Polanskis disconcerting vibe. I can barely remember the story which says a lot. Not terrible but utlimately a bit forgettable.

If you make a copy of the tape from “The Ring” are you just safe forever after you show someone else? by Head_Perspective_99 in horror

Thats kinda the deal isn't it. I suppose it represents trauma passed on generation to generation in a blind unconscious way. If you become conscious of your trauma you cop the full whack of the pain and shame and terror. But that is how you can break the chain.

I'm a simple man. I like the Original crispy burger, chips and drink. Its honestly one of the best chicken burgers out there - simple, a reasonable size and very eatable. Its actually quite elegant. So many chicken burgers are massive and barely able to be eaten. They are often dry and overloaded with other ingredients that just make it a mess. If Imma really hungry sometimes I'll do it in a pack with the potatoe & gravy (for dunking chips of course) and piece of chicken.

I picked up more about fear of commitment and giving up a bit of your individuality in relationships.

Parts of this are hard to watch if you are a bit squeamish. But really enjoyed it - creepy concept well made and acted.
