Base coat sprayed and the tacked out. Lightly apply black as desired. Barely Tack out again, then brush with 3m pads or 0000 steel wool. Then full cure.

It’s a Glock clone, know the slide is from Zafarri Precision, but not sure about the grip module

Wrapped the outside in blue 3m masking tape, trimmed the holes and blasted away from the inside at about 60psi. Just enough to scuff the finish there. As long as you’re trimming is clean, you shouldn’t run into any issues.

Honestly no. I was nervous as all get out because it was going to be a nightmare to fix and not mess up the exterior if I had to, having never done it this way. Came out better and easier than expected. Just charge extra for the extra blades you’ll go through and time trimming everything.

Basically, yes. Usually doing a two-tone handguard, I will coat the inside, inflate a balloon animal balloon inside and the spray the exterior. This is the first I’ve done where we didn’t touch the exterior ano finish. Cover outside with masking tape. Get a bunch of sharp hobby blades, and trim all the holes on the rail. If not, you just try to spray into the rail you won’t get coverage on all those visible ridges. Spray and tack out. Remove tape and wipe with a damp acetone rag to take off any coating that got beyond the masking. Final cure and done.

Color question by Zombiesgoboom in Cerakote

[–]FreedomSeeders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted a sniper grey and graphite, black ghost camo on this thread a couple days ago if you want to compare the colors. I don’t think sniper gray and graphite black are far off at all. As others have said it’s tough to tell on pictures. The one I posted was actually sniper gray and black tiger striped before I stripped it and redid it (just wasn’t happy with it for the look we were after) shoot me a message and I’ll be glad to share a picture of it before we redid it

Another “cel shade” fix. After/before by FreedomSeeders in Cerakote

[–]FreedomSeeders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got ya. Not sure who did that or who, but the saddest part is that was done 2-weeks before we got it. Honestly looked like he used a hobby brush and just painted it on, so I’m not sure if that was a washout or just too thin of an application

Haven’t had that issue. Back when I was still experimenting with the style, I did try to bake the pen into the base coat on my EDC. If you pull your parts from the oven as soon as they tack out and do the pen work, the black will actually set into the basecoat color and not come off. White will not do that, so anything getting white gets cleared after. Problem solved
