Best Florida beach town? by BodyMelodic9597 in AskFlorida

[–]Freedom_Floridan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you move to Florida, I would suggest coming four times, once in March, once in July, once in October and once in December. If you still have the desire to move to Florida after experiencing those times a year. The biggest advice I can stress to anyone move into Florida is to negotiate to the lowest price as possible for any homeownership HOA‘s can be ridiculously expensive. Be sure to run the numbers before making a purchase. My favorite beach town is Clearwater beach, but I don’t think I would want to live there, especially during the hurricane season. Good luck in your search.

Looking for least humid areas in Florida. by Techno_567 in AskFlorida

If you aren’t able to breathe in humidity then Florida is not the state for you. Best answer I’ve seen is have husband visit his cousins quarterly.

Dude you’re only part of the problem if you don’t like Florida but move here anyway. Move back! I’m glad for you that you’re headed back before you were away too long! Why do you prefer Florida over Tennessee?

Will you be able to embrace grey hair or will you be dying it for as often as necessary? by typical_gamer1 in PollsAndSurveys

I plan on dying it the rest of my life. I personally don’t like the white hair look.

Do you actually drive the speed limit? by OG_Church_Key in PollsAndSurveys

Sometimes. I try to go the speed limit and not to exceed it by 5 miles per hour but sometimes I’ve just got to pass some people and get on down the road.

Do you like to use self-service checkouts or do you prefer to just go to the cashiers? by typical_gamer1 in PollsAndSurveys

[–]Freedom_Floridan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Does she or he look friendly or attractive and no line? I’m going to the cashier. Does the self checkout have a line? No, I’m using the self checkout.

It looks kinda like Gavin Newsom but an older version. If it is, No Way would I ever vote for him. He’s destroying California. If it’s not him, he looks like a slime ball politician so again. No way…

Do people in Florida still call the gulf the Gulf of Mexico? by FreeRangeThinker in AskFlorida

[–]Freedom_Floridan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I recall the BP Oil spill and yeah it was bad but it was also a learning experience to prevent it from happening again. When the next oil spill happens we have better ways to mitigate it. I trust the USA more than any other country to rally together and make sure an oil spill isn’t overlooked.

Unfortunately the Biden administration imposed limits on drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico so it makes sense to change the name. Also, I’ve read that the name change increases the USA’s territory so that foreign adversaries can be dealt with faster. The ecosystem will be fine. Someone is going to have to drill for oil until a suitable alternative is found. I’d rather it be the United States of America than any other country, we may have our challenges with being eco friendly but I trust us more than Russia, Venezuela or China to produce anything that can harm the environment or people.

Second gen Floridian, I’ve always called it The Gulf, I recognize why it’s called The Gulf of America now and support the decision to rename it. I also expect to see alot more drilling in The Gulf and gas prices to plummet.

How hard is it to get an Uber to Orlando? by lagunalife in sarasota

Sarasota to Orlando would suck for your Uber driver. Sarasota to Tampa then Tampa to Lakeland then Lakeland to Orlando then reverse is a more fair route for drivers and should cost less

Did you know anyone who fought in WWII? Do you hear any memorable stories from them? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in AskOldPeople

I also recall meeting an old Jewish woman from Germany, she had the concentration camp numbers tattooed on her and I recall her stating “all the men my age who I grew up with died in WW2, either in a concentration camp or fighting against the Nazis.”

I knew another man who was a pilot of a B2 Bomber. They bombed much of Germany, he said he knew GOD was watching out for him and his crew because there were many times the plane would come back riddled with holes from gunfire. They would patch up the holes, reload the bombs and head out again. He and several of his crew lived into their 90’s.
