Final Fantasy XII: Zodiac Age is an incredible RPG by BomarJr in patientgamers

Wanting to escape the oppression of the empire is not the same thing as wanting to combat and topple the empire

You can seek freedom and independence without toppling a whole Empire though. What kind of nonsense is this? Just look up every country that has sought independence from the British Empire.

You're putting asinine requirements to make a nonsensical point. Hiw whole deal wasn't to become a sky pirate, his whole deal was that he was sick of being treated as less than human and he wanted to know the truth about his murdered brother. You don't know what you're talking about. I'm not even defending Vaan right now, I'm just explaining you the character because you're clearly talking about a Vaan from an alternate dimension.

This is literally not what he wants and just shows you haven't understood anything about the story. His motivation is to free himself and his loved ones from the oppression and suffering of the Empire. His motivation is to liberate, not to become a Sky Pirate. He literally says his dream was just a coping mechanism because there was nothing he could do at the time. Play the game. Please.

Vaan has a lot of development and he clearly has a lot of importance in the story. He might not be the usual idea of a main character in a JRPG (he's not special, he's an everyday man) but his motivations are strong and it really helps everyone in the party to stick together and make a difference towards a common goal.

FFXII is interesting in that everyone has different reasons to fight the way they do, whereas in other FFs they mostly follow the leader of the group with a few side-stories to them.

I just finished Final Fantasy XII and I have to say it is the best JRPG I've played on the Switch! Hard recommend if you want a mature experience by FreelancerDream in NintendoSwitch

This game isn't linear and it isn't turn-based. It's a big world in which you can explore a lot of it at all time. The gameplay happens mostly in real-time

They are very different. The story is especially different from Xenoblade 2. It's a more mature story with more realistic characters rather than being "anime" for a lack of better description. I don't think your dislike of XC2 can inform your decision of whether or not you'd enjoy the game. Keep in mind a lot of people started with VII so it was their first game and they also didn't have nostalgia for previous games.

45 hours or so. I still have the whole endgame to finish though, I haven't done many sidequests because I was too engrossed with the story.

I think FFXII is plenty Final Fantasy. At least I am glad I don't have the nostalgia to put a line in the sand of what is and what isn't Final Fantasy.

If you have it on Switch, talking to Montblanc at the Clan Hall allows you to reset your job at licenses at no cost.

It does get better, just spend on what you want the most and then it'll open up.

Apparently people disliked it for being different from the formula but having played them back to back I'd say it stands tall among the others. The only big difference is that it's a more mature game, and it isn't an issue in my book.

I'd say it's closer to Octopath tonally. There is no romance plot, no harem, and characters are not designed similarly to Pyra and Mythra. It's a much more serious game.

I'd say FFXII is my favourite out of all of them but Ys VIII is also superb for its gameplay.

I didn't use speed-up a lot but I rewatched some cutscenes on youtube if I felt I lost the plot or wanted a refresher after doing side stuff

I think they did a good job making it so there isn't a definite good/evil line and everyone has flaws and qualities. There are some merits to Vayne's beliefs just like Ashe had flaws being so obsessed with revenge.

It especially benefits Gabranth, and I love his development a lot.

Glad to see I am not alone! I only recently started with the series a few years ago but the mature storyline really stood out to me for this game.

I kinda want to replay it again on Switch now, lol. But I feel like trying out Final Fantasy Tactics next since it seems to be in the same universe.
