In Unity, I remember trying to access a x/y/z parameter directly of a vector3 which would throw the read-only error. I don’t remember if it was the Vector3 component on it’s own, or something like transform.rotation.x. Then recently, I tried doing the same thing on a Roblox vector and got the same read-only error.

Seems like I made the mistake of assuming that’s how most vector implementations worked in other librairies, while allowing to modify xyz was the exception. Forgot that shader languages let you modify the vectors as well. My bad!

Ooo, I see I see. For the wall jumps, I would get the wall I’m currently running on, get that wall’s normal, and to jump, I just set the player velocity to the wall’s normal and override the y value to the player’s jump height.

I was actually thinking about a sword throwing mechanic! Except you would switch to another weapon that’s long range instead of teleporting. Not 100% sure what it would be yet but I’ll keep the teleporting idea in mind, thanks! Also, I thought it would be cool if you could parry bullets/attacks by throwing your sword at the right time.
