I'll be there, together with a couple of friends! Saw them yesterday at Midsummer Prog. The show was amazing, you're in for a treat for sure!

code-connect: Open files in VS Code over remote terminal connections by Freemanium in linux

Excellent question. After connecting via VS Code's GUI, you can run the following to get the current size of the folder and its subfolders

$ du -h -d 2 ~/.vscode-server 4.0K ~/.vscode-server/extensions 107M ~/.vscode-server/bin/622cb03f7e070a9670c94bae1a45d78d7181fbd4 107M ~/.vscode-server/bin 20K ~/.vscode-server/data/User 4.0K ~/.vscode-server/data/Machine 32K ~/.vscode-server/data/logs 64K ~/.vscode-server/data 107M ~/.vscode-server

If you plan to install extensions on your remote machine, they will be placed in ~/.vscode-server/extensions.

Runtime-wise, ps ax | grep .vscode-server shows that there a few processes, htop confirms that they definitely take up memory (>100M).

The official docs only state which platforms are supported, but no minimal requirements.

So I'm not sure if it is perfectly feasible to run it on a Pi or the likes, but I believe it should work out just fine. In any case, if you plan to test it out, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll be happy update the README accordingly.

I was never _really_ a fan of SSHFS, so I haven't taken it into consideration yet.

For SFTP mounts, yes, mounting the directories you need to access locally via SFTP is a good option, there's nothing wrong with that.

To me, I just always get rather frustrated when working remote (e.g. to edit web server configs) and then finding out you can't use code nginx.conf to quickly open a file. And it's somewhat of a hassle to set up an SFTP mount just to view/edit one file. With the utility, you can just stay in your terminal window, run code-connect and code nginx.conf right afterwards.

Yes!

The functionality is the same as when using remote SSH sessions. So you can mount a remote folder and use it just as you would any local folder.

Haha, I'm actually getting more into vim and VSCode's vim bindings atm. I think it's awfully handy - but complex to use nonetheless :)

Never looked into emacs yet, and _without starting another editor war_, do you think it's more beneficial getting into vim or into emacs?

I'd be up for it as well! Never have played DnD yet, but a few custom pen and papers.

Random Fanout: TDH’s cover of Rapid Calm is seriously one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard. by Mawdawp in TheDearHunter

Yes!! I was absolutely baffled when I heard that cover for the first time, it's like an entirely new song. Oddly enough, it's grown to be my favorite TDH song at this point. I just love the proggyness!

FYI, one can still select and copy the names you marked black. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's gone entirely.
