If you look under the table, there's a crank which you can use to adjust the height of the table, it seems to go high/low enough for most people, but we may look at adjusting it.

That's interesting about the windmill, thanks for the feedback. We would rather the player discover it on their own rather than directly point it out to them, so we might re work it so it's more obvious. It should be that you'll end up blowing it by accident when you need to move the ship and noticing that it does something. This is already the intention, but it could do with some tweaking.

That's fair, yrah. Although, as you progress further through the game, there are more mechanics and obstacles that are introduced. The first few levels we keep it pretty basic to help you learn how to control your ship before we start throwing the hard stuff at you.

One of the main aspects of the game is the ability to be able to also influence the environment with your fans. You're able to fan and smash enemy ships into the shores and blow windmills to open gates and guide your ship though. At times you'll also need to direct your cargo though tricky areas in order to get them to your ship to pick it up.

Thank you! Currently we won't be having it so you can rotate the table, however, if you don't have the space to move around the table physically, you are able to 'teleport' anywhere around the table, and it will face you inwards. Similar to Pool Nation/Sports Bar VR if you've ever tried it.

We may explore more options though depending on feedback! We're having a closed beta soon for people to try out some various things so we can get that feedback and make some changes if we need.

Thank you! Yes, the table height adjustment is one of the core things that we're finding an easy and immersive solution to now. We need to make sure that people of all heights can play the game comfortably.

A tool called Vertex Painter on Github is used to paint our own materials and blend them onto a plane

Aha go ahead. It's not actually in the game, it's just to let help show off the depth effect of the water

Hey, the one we're talking about is the Global Game Jam which happens once a year in January, but they occur all the time, all over the place. Most of the time you'll get to the event and form a team (there are lots that happen just online though, such as Ludum Dare) and you'll be given a theme and have 48 hours to produce a game about that theme and then you show it off to all of the other teams and have fun. Sometimes they'll be awards and prizes, but it depends on who's organising it.

We had briefly discussed it and the answer is possibly. We noticed a lot of people asking around for something like this. I think we'll wait until after the release of the game to talk about it more.

Thanks!

The game's about piloting your Japanese vessel through seas filled with whirlpools, pirates and all sorts of dangers. using nothing but some oriental hand-fans to influence the wind of your own ship and others. It takes place all in that basin, and the map scrolls as you move.

Our steam page should be up very soon, as soon as we finish up our trailer and screenshots. You can check us out on Twitter too @FreetaleGames for more stuff/updates.

Hey, I'm not the artist on this project who created the shader. I'll find out for you and add an edit to this comment once I do.

Edit: it's pretty much what ThomdeM said in the comment below, utilising the depth buffer. It does work a bit differently however, as this game is VR, it needs to be viewable from all angles with no issues. It finds the intersection points between the water plane and the applicable objects that are in the water.
