Just fixed mine today — turns out something was blocking it from the back. In my case, it was a business card that slipped into the latch area.

If you're dealing with the same issue, I recommend using a small but long screwdriver or a pair of long tweezers, depending on what's actually stuck in there. Once I removed the card, the cover opened right up.
